Colour me beautiful - complete

Hello bloggers :)

On Monday I promised to share the full card I made with Country Mama, and here she is.

I think this card turned out really well.  I love the soft pinks and brown - it just works lol!

The papers are a mix of Santoro "If Only" and Grace Taylor "Vintage Elegance".  They tone beautifully.

I chose a soft polka dot paper to mount Mama on and she stands out pretty well.

I mounted all the papers on brown coredinations card, wrapped one with brown ribbon, and added a Tattered Floral cut from burlap.

So there she is - all finished and looking lovely.

Happy Birthday Cat

Good morning. Today is my niece's 22nd birthday, so this is the card I have made from Alan and I.

Hope you have a brilliant day Cat, happy birthday love.

It's a Time for Tea Designs digi image. Coloured with Promarkers and then stitched on to some Coredinations card.

I teamed it with purple paper and some grey embossed card from the stash, and then made a flower from grey fabric and card. This is cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die, all held together with a big brad.

I added some more ready made flowers and a couple of curly vines cut from the same grey card.

The little rope flower is one that I received as a gift all the way from Thailand.

I added a ready made sentiment and then used a Tim Holtz on the edge die to cut the butterflies for the top. I cut these in a double strip so that it goes all the way inside the card. Then I inked it all up with Dusty Concord and Seedless Preserve Distress Inks.

I inked all of the rest of edges with Dusty Concord and then finished the card with a couple of little stick on butterflies.

Hope you like it, I know Cat does.

See you soon.

Colour me beautiful

Happy Monday crafty peeps.  Hope you've had a good weekend.

I have been creating cards for my daughter's birthday tomorrow.  Obviously I can't share before the day so this is a sneak peek at one of the images.

This is Country Mama by the fabulous Krista Smith (Saturated Canary)

I struggle with skin and hair tones, so this was a practice piece I was working on.  It turned out pretty well so I've used it for a card.
(Please excuse the blurry image!)

On her trousers I tried a texturing technique which, while it isn't brilliant, still gives a good enough feel.

I'll show you the finished card later in the week.  TTFN Jude xx

Lost photos

Good morning all, hope you are having a lovely weekend. Today's post is a little bit different for me. It's a scrapbook page that I have framed.

There aren't many photo's of me as a baby as my parents had a bad house fire when we were young, and a lot of treasured memories were lost. But after Dad passed this year, my uncle was looking through some old photo's and came across some which originally came from my Gran.

Lurking in the depths of them, were a few of me when I was about 6 months old, at the seaside with Mum, Dad and Jude.

These are very special to me so I wanted to use them to make something to keep. I was just going to frame them but then Jude suggested a scrapbook page. So I decided to do both lol.

Needless to say a few tears have been shed over the one with Dad, but I love it anyway.

Not sure exactly where we were on holiday, but it was probably either Bridlington or Scarborough. So I have used a piece of an old road atlas to show that piece of coastline.

I kept with Tealy blue for the main bits so that it can either go in the living room or bedroom.

I found this little sentiment in a box of shapes and loved the saying.

Hope you like it.

See you soon, take care.

Flower girl

Hurrah for Saturday!  It has been really busy at work this week and I am so looking forward to the weekend.

I made this little card based on a similar layout in a magazine - that one had 5 banners and an oval topper which I may try another time.

The image is another of the LOTV art pads on a scalloped circle.  I took coordinating papers and cut the banners, then mounted them on white card matted onto pale blue.

I used a Tonic punch to create the pattern strip but unfortunately it doesn't show up very well behind the topper.

I wrapped a strip of ribbon across the top and added a bow to the left.

I like the colours on this; red and blue work really nicely together.  Hope you like it too.

Ice cream Friday

Good morning all hope you are having a good week.

Today's post is a card that I made last weekend. I started colouring the Time for Tea Designs image with Distress Markers but the skin went far too dark! So I switched over to Promarkers to try and rescue it.

It didn't end up too badly, she just has a really good tan lol. But it's the best I could do.

I cut her out by hand and then used some of the Jennifer Ellory paper pad that Jude had used to make the layers. All matted with Centura Pearl blue card. I included a couple of pieces of patterned ribbon and a bow.

I added some card letters to the right side to spell lovely. Then stamped the birthday greeting at the bottom with pink ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Hope you like it. See you soon, take care.

Note book

Hello again.  I bring another non-card post to you today.  There are lots of pictures so be warned lol.

When we were on the Dabble Day a couple of weekends ago, we made a to do list book.  Using the same idea I made a little note book for storing passwords, email addresses and notes when I'm out and about.

The first step was to cut the paper to size and glue it together.

I put plain at the front and pre-printed at the back.

I folded the card and decorated the front with paper scraps, ribbon and lace.

I also made a pocket for the front inside cover and decorated the inside back.

I added the label from sticky backed lettering and scribbled around the edge to outline it.

I then glued all the pages inside the cover.

Once the glue dried I added an image from the Lili of the Valley art pads and mounted it on a turquoise die cut.

I tied it up with ribbon, et voilà, a handbag sized note book.

That's all for today.  TTFN Jude xx

Another name frame

Good morning all. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd share another name frame with you this morning.

I made this one for my grandsons and their mum and their little dog Bella.

It's the same as before, very simple. The most complicated thing about them is working out where the names fit together lol.

I decorated this one with a wooden butterfly and some pearls. Then a small Studio Calico sentiment in the top corner.

Hope you like it, I know Vicky did.

See you soon. Take care.

Spring has sprung

It's been a lovely long Easter weekend but now it's Tuesday and we're back to work - boo.  I'm off to Crewe today to visit a dairy college!  Should be interesting lol :)

At the weekend I asked Jen to choose a paper pad for me to make a card with.  She chose Emma's Garden by Jennifer Ellory.  This is full of fresh greens, pinks and yellows and I immediately thought of Springtime and flowers [Not much of a leap was it ;)]

I also wanted to incorporate a tag in some way.  I've seen a few tag cards and like the different styles I've seen.  I kept mine quite basic but I think it works well.  I covered the tag with one of the papers and tied a bright ribbon through the top.

I chose two papers for the background and used the same ones for the flower centres.  The large blooms are from a spots and stripes set.

I used the fern die again and added the cut pieces from my ribbon to add a bit of colour behind them.

Finally I cut a butterfly using the Papillion 2 die from Spellbinders using pink card.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx
