Funky Moped

Today is my youngest son Joe's 21st birthday.  As Joe contracted meningitis at 13 months old and we were told he may not survive, being able to celebrate another milestone birthday is a blessing.

Happy birthday Joseph Patrick!  Here's hoping for many, many more.

This is the card I made for his sister to send him.  The moped stamp is from a Crafter's Companion set, while the papers are from the Man Made set by Trimcraft.

I stamped the moped with teal ink and clear embossed it.  I then used a Cosmic Shimmer pearlescent PVA in teal sky for the dots.

The numbers are an Xcut die which has matching stamps.  I decided not to stamp them but just add a fine liner edging.

Hope you like it.

More Placemats

Good morning all, I have been working on some more placemats, this time for Mum. She had some old ones that had seen better days so asked if I could do something with them.

I started by giving them a good sand and then cleaning them. Then I added some decorative card from the stash with spray adhesive.

Once that was stuck down and dry I gave them a good coat of spray varnish. Unfortunately this took an absolute age to dry and even then stayed quite tacky, so I had to give them another sand down and this time sealed them with some Ranger Glue N Seal.

the edges needed some tidying up, so I went round them with Treasure Gold - Classic.

Then on one of the mats I made a border with Redline tape and put some gold leaf flakes on top. Then I sprayed over the whole mat with a gold shimmer spray.

On the second mat I went around the edge with a gold marker pen,

and then gave it a light coat with the gold shimmer spray.

I just have a few more to do now!

Hope you like them, take care and I'll see you soon.

Box card

Happy Sunday everyone.  You may have noticed Jen filled in for me yesterday as I didn't have a card to blog!! The reason is this card took me two days to make ;)

It's the first time I've attempted something like this, and although I love it, I don't think I'll hurry to make another.

The instructions came from Docrafts Creativity magazine (Issue 56) and were easy enough to follow it is just fiddly to decorate.

I used a pack of bright papers for the side panels and chose navy blue as my accent colour.

I punched various hearts and stars from these papers and attached them to the inside of the box with acetate strips.  I then used two large number dies for the 21.

The side panels had a few extra embellishments added but I didn't want to distract from the centre piece.

When the card is folded it fits in a standard 6 x 6 envelope.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Mini

Good morning all and welcome to another weekend. It's a really short post today, just to show a card I made a few weeks ago, as we are busy making 21st birthday cards at the min for Jude's youngest next week

I was trying to make use of some of the card sets we have and found this London theme set from Docrafts.

I stuck with a blue and red theme for the card layers, and then used the stick on elements to make up the card.

Just using one die cut shape to stick the car to.

Hope you like it, see you soon.

Sparkle and shine

Good morning all, today's card is made using the December Simon Says Stamp Cardkit. I took inspiration from one of their designers for this card and just adapted it to make use of the supplies I have.

I used a SSS silver card for the background cut with a Dynamics Stitched Rectangle die. Then I used a Paper Smooches balloon die to cut the balloons. I used the largest balloon from the set and cut it three times.

On the third time of cutting it, I used a plain pale blue card and then used a spot mask to stencil through some Versamark Ink. Then I heat embossed the spots with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

Then I used one of the stamps from the kit and embossed that with the same embossing powder.

I stamped another of the sentiments on the inside using black Memento ink.

I raised the balloons on foam pads and then tied some silver/white string to the bottoms and glued this down with Cosmic Shimmer glue.

Then I just finished it off with a few sequins in silver, bronze and gold.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Ruby Red

Well I got back from London last night, tired and hungry, and realised I didn't have a card to share with you today!  I had to quickly hit the craft room and find something easy to make lol.

As I often do in these situations I took a pre-coloured Lili of the Valley image as my starting point.  Finding card and papers to match wasn't difficult, just time consuming.  It took me a while to narrow down my choices!

In the end I chose two from the Love Lives Here collection by Raspberry Road, matted on to red card.  I also used an LOTV sentiment.

I used some matching flowers from the stash with a large silk leaf to finish.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Friends

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week.

Today's card is one I have made for a friend who's birthday is on Friday.

I used elements from the new Trimcraft goody bag that includes Back to Basic Monochrome papers, flowers, doilies etc.

I used some plain black card for the background and a Tonic Studios border punch across the centre.

Then I used Dynamics and Diesire flourishes also in black card and then built up a flower on the doilie.

The sentiment is from a Creative Expressions set, stamped in black Memento ink and cut out with a tag die.

Then as I thought it was a bit plain I added some silver gilding cream and clear Wink of Stella pen to the black card and flower.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

May your dreams take flight

The paper I cut my butterfly from at the weekend, has been used as the base for today's card.

I matted the paper on cream card and placed a gold inlay behind the cut out.  I then cut another butterfly from the cream card and inked through the die, before placing that in the negative space.

We have some lovely sentiment stamps, and I dug through them until I found one that was appropriate.  This says 'Follow your dreams until they take wing and fly'.

A few butterflies punched from gold mirror card finished off this simple design.

Hope you like it.

Family

Good morning all, hope you had a good weekend.

Today's card is another Mother's day one, this time it's the one I made for my granddaughter's to give to their mummy.

I tried to replicate their little family with two girls and two dogs. So I used an old stamp for the 2 little girls and then part of the Lawn Fawn, Critters at the dog park set for the dogs.

I stamped the girls with brown ink on to Kraft paper and then heat embossed them with fine detail embossing powder. Then I watercoloured the images with Distress Inks.

I stamped the dogs on to some light brown card and cut them out with the matching dies. Just colouring their noses and leaving the rest plain.

I used papers from our What A Hoot pad by Trimcraft and backed it with a mid pink card.

I used some dies from the MFT Dynamics range for the stitched panel and bow and then added lace and ribbon from the stash.

I found some coordinating flowers and grouped them in the bottom corner, then added a few flat backs to the ribbon.

I finished it off with a sentiment from the Crafters Companion, Sentimentals Greetings - Female set stamped in Pink Archival ink.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.
