Sepia shades

Hello again and welcome to our last post of February!

My card today is made using up some of the scraps I have collecting in the box on my desk.  It will soon be over flowing so I really need to do something about it - lol.

The image is called Highschool Girl and is from Krista Smith at Saturated Canary.
I coloured her as part of a sepia challenge quite a while ago and she has finally made it on to a card.

I didn't have a specific person in mind when putting this together so I have chosen a generic sentiment.  This means I have a card in readiness should I 'forget' an occasion.

I kept to neutral shades so as not to overwhelm the image and I think it works quite well.  The banners are cut using MFT Blueprints #3 and the curve across the bottom was traced and extended using a die from Blueprints #11.

That's all for today.  We are having a birthday party for our 'little' brother this evening so will have more to report next time.

Welcome little bunny

Good morning all and welcome to Friday. Hope you're having a good week and looking forward to the weekend.

We have a family birthday this weekend, our 'little' brother is 35 on Sunday, so we are getting together tomorrow evening for too much food and drink, lol.

Today's card is one I made for a friend of my daughter's, who had a new baby girl a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately she has been really poorly and there will probably be some struggles ahead for the family. But, she is now home with her mummy, daddy and big sister and is ready for lots of cuddles and kisses from new visitors.

The bunny image is from a Complete Cardmaking CD that I've had for ages. I printed it on to lightweight card and then cut it out with a circle die.

The papers are a mixture from the stash, teamed with a dark pink Coredinations card.

I wrote the sentiment on the PC and then cut it out with a smaller circle die.

Then I added some sticky back lace, polkadot ribbon and some It's a girl ribbon.

Then I finished it off with three buttons, three little charms and some small googly eyes.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Stocking Santa Ornament

I'm back with another Christmas card in preparation for this year's festivities.  I don't now how long I'll continue to make my 2 per month target but it's a start.

This is a Bugaboo digi called Stocking Santa Ornament. The sentiment was stamped in white ink and clear embossed.  It isn't as bright as I would have liked and I probably should have used white embossing powder.

The glittery rub on is from a set from Docrafts called A Silent Night.

So there he sits waiting for Christmas, lol!

A rescued cushion cover

Good morning, hope you are all having a good week.

Today's project was a bit of a 'give it a try, nothing to lose' sort of thing.

I ordered a cushion cover for D and Staci for when they got married, but when it came, the name was missing. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed, but I thought that somehow I would be able to rescue it.

I thought about using die cut letters but thought they wouldn't stay on very well, and I'm not great with a sewing machine, so I decided to stamp the name using a solvent ink.

But when I looked through all of the crafty stash, we didn't have an alphabet stamp set that was big enough for what I wanted. Then I saw something on line about making your own stamps with fun foam and a die.

So I dug out our Xcut alphabet die set, which has letters approx 1 inch tall. Then I cut them out of some coloured fun foam.

When I had the letters I needed, I stuck them to my stamp press and inked them up and tried them on scrap card first.

I had to fiddle about with them a bit until I was happy with the line up but I got there eventually lol. Then I went for it and stamped on to the cushion front, using a craft sheet inside, so that the ink didn't go through. Then I heat set it with my heat gun.

I think it turned out OK, and at least they can use it now. Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Jill in purple

Hello everyone.  Hope the weather is nicer where you are.  We have had sleet, snow, rain and high winds the past few days and it doesn't seem to have been light at all!

I have quite a few cards to make over the next week so I am using up some images I have had coloured for a while.  This one is Jill from Saturated Canary.  Unfortunately she is one of a bunch of images that were retired at the end of 2014 so is no longer available.

I used some papers from my scrap box for the background and cut the hello from some left over grey cardstock.

I added three simple lilac pearls to the banner as I didn't think she needed too much decoration.

I intend to continue using up some of the scrap papers I have collected for my cards over the next week or so.  That way I will make room for adding some of the lovely new designs we have purchased lately ;)

See you all again soon.  TTFN Jude xx

Happy Birthday

Good morning folks, hope you've had a good weekend.

Today's cards are making use of some of our dies and crafty bits that we don't use very often, but are really nice.

I love big sentiments on cards and this Happy Birthday one from Cheery Lyn was one of the first sentiment dies I ever bought. I used it quite a bit at first but then it's just got left on the shelf, with a lot of other things lol.

But I dragged them out this weekend and decided to make a couple of simple cards with them.

This one also includes one of the butterflies from the Spellbinders Les Papillions Two set, that rarely gets used.

I finished it off with some sticky gem trim which I've also had for ages.

This next card uses a sentiment from a Taylored Expressions set, that I've never used.

The dragonfly stamp and die is from the latest version of  Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine.

I also dug out some Washi Tape for down the edge.

I added a few flat backed pearls,

and used a black card blank for a change.

Hope you like them, take care and I'll see you soon.

Love Birds

Sunday again.  Time is really flying by.  Can you believe it is March next weekend?

This weekend we are mostly decorating the main bathroom so I haven't spent much time in the craft room at all.  In fact I haven't made a card all week!!

Instead I am sharing the last of the wedding cards.
(It is the last - I promise! lol)

For this one I used another Digi Stamp Boutique image but paired it with papers from the Docrafts Capsule Collection in Midnight Blush.

I wasn't sure about using black and cream but was very happy with how it turned out.
What do you think?

Better get back to work.  See you again soon.  TTFN Jude xx

Just married

Good morning folks, it's the weekend at last lol. This week has seemed to go on forever, and I'm really hoping for some crafty time this weekend.

This is the last of the wedding cards I made for my son and daughter in law.

The car was stamped from a free stamp set that Jude got recently on a craft magazine. I stamped it twice, then cut it out and coloured them both with Copic markers. When I put the card together I put one car over the other raised on foam tape.

I covered the windows with Glossy Accents to give them a bit of shine.

The papers are from a Lili of the Valley paper pad called Winter Wishes.

I wrote the sentiments on the computer and then printed them on card stock and cut them out with tag dies.

I used antique lace, blue ribbon, a blue tassel that's been in the craft stash forever! and a little heart brad to attach it.

Then I cut up some pearl trim and used the single pearls on the ribbon and on the car. Then I added a couple of little resin flowers to the bottom corner.

Then all it needed was a double bow, some silver twine tied in a bow and a little Love charm.

Hope you like it. Take care and I'll see you soon.

Matthew

Yesterday Jen's youngest step son Matthew celebrated his 23rd birthday.  This is the card I made him.

I've used this sentiment and image from Handmade Harbour before, but I do love it. I think it is perfect for men with a slightly off key sense of humour, and that definitely describes Matt! Lol!

I used scraps from my ever growing pile to make the layout, and coloured the image to match.

Hope you like it.
