Happy birthday Joe!

Morning all and Happy Easter! Jude back with you today. Did you all remember to put your clocks forward? I usually do mine before bed so I don't forget although my bathroom clock is now right for the first time this year! I never took it down to change from the last time we altered the clocks lol :0

As well as Easter Sunday today is my youngest's 19th birthday. Joe is very special to us all as just after his first birthday he contracted meningococcal septicaemia and we almost lost him on several occasions. Thankfully he survived but not with out a few problems. He will shortly be moving into his own home under a supported living arrangement. He will get 24 hour care in a bungalow shared with a school friend and I can retire as his carer and be mum again. Exciting times but scary too!

Anyway below is a graffiti style card I've made for him. The Kraft paper background has been inked through a brickwork stencil with several shades of distress ink then spritzed with cosmic shimmer. I've added his name and age with a white gel pen then darkened it with blue ink.

The cogs are cut from a sheet of double sided adhesive covered with clarity stamps gilding flakes in pirates treasure. I love the colours in this.

Hope you like it. TTFN Jude

Rose Red...

Good morning all, Jen here today. Hope you are all having a lovely Easter weekend so far. I have another coloured digi stamp for you today, this time it's Rose Red again by Saturated Canary.

Isn't she just gorgeous? She absolutely needed a big dramatic card lol. I started with the image and coloured her in using Flexmarkers and Promarkers. I also used a little bit of Cosmic Shimmer Drawing Ink in red to highlight parts of her dress and her lips. It gives a lovely shimmery finish that has hints of blue in it.

Once coloured I cut around the image and then stuck it to the largest of the Resplendent Rectangle shapes cut from white Centura Pearl card.  I layered this on to red mirror card which I embossed with the Flower Power embossing folder and then layered this on to more white Centura Pearl embossed with the same folder. I embossed an 8x8 inch white card blank with the Regency Swirls folder and then cut a piece of red card slightly smaller than the blank and embossed this one too.

I put all of the layers together and then added some red and white flowered ribbon down each side. Then I made up a few flowers in white, red and black, using my new quilling die, this one is called Blissful and some rolled flowers too. I also added in some ready made felt flowers and some leaf flourishes cut in black Centura Pearl card.

I arranged the flowers around the top right side and then added three little mirror embellishments to the bottom left for balance. Then I tied a big bow using three different ribbons and added it to the left side.

I am really pleased with how this one turned out :o)) Hope you like it too.

Take care and I'll see you soon.

Tag-tastic

Morning folks and happy Good Friday!

This morning I have a little tag to share with you. I've been experimenting lately with gilt cream and embossing paste, and this tag brings them both together.

I started with a #8 tag and embossed the bottom section with a creative expressions folder. The individual butterflies were then highlighted to add some colour.

The top section was covered with a Bo Bunny dotty paper which I wiped over with cream acrylic paint and then once dry took some walnut distress stain to it.

The flowers started as an IndigoBlu stamp then I used the design as a template to add the embossing paste. Once this was dry I added some florentine gold gilding cream for definition.

The finishing touch was the ribbon to separate the two sections which has chocolate pearl drops dotted along it.

I enjoyed playing with these bits and hope you like the result.

Quick post...

Good morning all, yes a really quick post today. Although I have been making cards this week, I can't show them yet as they are for a very special birthday on Sunday :o)) so I don't have much to show you today ;-(

Apart from a couple more pieces of jewellery that I have been playing with lol.

And do you remember this bracelet I made a couple of months ago? I said then I didn't really like it as it was a bit plain.

So I changed it a bit :o))

And made some earrings to match!

Hope you are all having nice crafty weeks. Take care. See you soon

Doubletake...

Good morning all, hope you are all well on this cold spring morning... I know us Brits constantly moan about the weather, but come on Spring, where have you gone???? These old bones need a bit of warmth from the sunshine every now and again lol.

Anyway, today's card is another digi stamp from the extremely talented Krista over at Saturated Canary. I do love these images, the only trouble I have is knowing which ones to choose! But this one is Double Take and I think she is gorgeous.

I started with the image and coloured her with Spectrum Noirs and Flexmarkers. I decided to go blue for a change and try and stay away from my typical pinks and purples when colouring. When she was coloured I cut her out using the largest of the Labels 29 dies. Then I gave her a frame in dark blue Centura Pearl card using the two largest Labels 29 dies.

I added the frame to a card blank covered with some patterned Adorable Scorable cardstock in a co-ordinating blue colour. Then I added some tiny little diamante stickers to her dress to give it a bit of sparkle.

Next I cut loads of different flowers in different blue, creams and white papers and some swirl leaves and arranged them top and bottom of the card.

I finished the flowers by adding light and dark blue gems to the centres.

I also added some flower shaped gems which I've had for ages and never found anything they looked right on lol.

No sentiment on this one yet as I don't think it particularly needs one, but it may get one eventually depending on if I use it for a birthday card or not ;o))

Anyways that's enough from me today. Thanks for stopping by. See you all soon.

Challenge 89 - Mail it!

Hello everyone, have you all had a good start to the week? We have had quite a bit of snow the last few days so I haven't been out much. The snow has forced me to stay in and rest as I'm still hobbling around on a dodgy ankle after tearing my Achilles' tendon by slipping in my hallway. Not something I would recommend as it is rather painful!

Anyway on to the challenge. The theme this week for Anything Goes followers is "MAIL IT" (So anything to do with mailing e.g postcards, letters, envelopes, pictures of stamps, etc) join in at anythingchallenge.blogspot.com

The design team have come up with some stunning cards so hop over to their blogs and leave them some nice comments please.

My entry is a postcard. I've mounted it on black and cream added black swirls and book page flowers. Nothing too difficult but a lovely little card. I do love black and cream.

Hope you like my card and you consider joining in the fun at Anything Goes. Take care until next time. TTFN Jude x

Humphrey's Corner....

Good morning all, hope all is well where you are and you have all had a lovely weekend.

Well we tootled off to the NEC yesterday and had a great day looking round all the stands and spending far too many pennies ;o) oops ha ha. But we really enjoyed it. Saw some well known faces and brought back lots of new goodies to play with. And I must admit that Jude didn't moan too much about the lack of a wheelchair! Well it didn't stop her spending either lol.

Anyway only a short post from me today, just a card I made for mothers day but never posted. This one is a Humphrey's Corner decoupage, from the 'A Year with Humphrey' kit. I do love these little characters they are really sweet, and as the kit is already die cut they are so easy to put together.

I started with the decoupage and then used some co-ordinating paper for the background. The poppy paper is also from the set, and the reddish brown card is Adorable Scorable from HunkyDory.

I just used dies to cut the scalloped squares to match the 6x6 card blank, and then added a scalloped circle for the topper to sit on.

All it needed to finish the card was a little tag, stamped and coloured and a few gems.

Hope you like it, that's all from me today. See you soon, thanks for stopping by.

Country Momma

Good morning all and welcome to Sunday x

Hopefully as you read this I am trotting around the NEC at the Hobbycraft show.  Trotting might be an exaggeration as I am still recovering from my torn achilles.  I am hoping they have some mobility scooters to borrow as I don't think I'll manage to walk all the way round AND Jen refuses to push me in a manual chair so I better get rested up!! lol!

Today's card is another of our favourite stamps of late - Saturated Canary.  As the title says this is Country Momma.  She should have a small child in a trolley filled with flowers but I fancied using her on her own.

I challenged myself to only use 2 colours from my promarkers and still get some definition and depth.  I don't think it turned out too badly.  The colours are putty and rose pink.

I have seen a lot of book page flowers around recently so decided to have a go.  The pages were coloured with the same promarkers and cut with Xcut flower dies.  The centres are tonic mini punches and purple gems.

The die cut behind momma is a Spellbinder. I cut it twice and then snipped away the edge until I made a rectangle as opposed to the square I started with.  It worked quite well but I've hidden the joins a little to make them less obvious.

Well I've scheduled this post as I'm having an early night ready for a long day of purchasing perusing at the NEC, so off to bed I go.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and the snow doesn't put paid to your crafting plans.

Easter Card....

Good morning all, hope you are all keeping nice and cosy warm, as we have quite a bit of snow at the moment! So I'm keeping everything crossed that it clears up and we can still get to the NEC tomorrow lol.

Today's card is another Saturated Canary image, this time it's Lily, Bo and Peep. So cute ;o)) and perfect for an Easter card and to will spring here lol.

I coloured the image first using Flexmarkers and Promarkers and then cut around the shape just leaving a narrow border.

Next I inked the front of a 6x6 scalloped edged card using Tumbled Glass stain and Shabby Shutters distress inks. I used a small flower shape just to hold over the page in a few places to give me the cloud effect.

Then I tore a piece of paper to give a wavy line and held it in the middle of the card to give me an edge for the horizon line.

Next I inked around the edge of my image with the same inks and sat her on the background.

I added loads of flowers, just putting different layers together from some ready made flowers. I just really liked the colours and thought they matched well with the spring theme. All they needed were a few pearls in the centres to finish them off.

I also added a few of the Papermania green Blitters to give it a bit of bling.

I finished the card by stamping the greeting on to a piece of white card using Bamboo Leaves Memento ink and putting it on the top of the card with foam tape.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

See you soon

New Jewellery...

Good morning folks and happy Friday. Are you all looking forward to the weekend? Those of you that are going, hope you have a great time at the NEC. I'm counting down the hours until Sunday lol.

So today I thought I would show you a couple of new bits of jewellery. Sorry if you are getting bored of it :-( but I'm really enjoying it just now, and this set is one of my faves.

I love this antique bronze effect, it really looks vintage and very much the fashion at the min.

As I've said before, peach really isn't my colour, but I just fell in love with these little flowers, and they seemed to fit perfectly with the chain colour. I just love all of the little charms that you can get right now, they are great for cards and costume jewellery.

Well it just wouldn't have been right not to make some earrings to match :o)) now on with a bracelet????

Thanks for stopping by, see you all soon.

Vintage Violet....

Good morning all, hope everyone is well today. How many of you are off to the NEC to the HobbyCraft show??? I'm going, but not until Sunday ;-( so got to hope there is still plenty left lol.

Anyway today's card is an image from Saturated Canary - Vintage Violet. I just think she is so lovely.

As her name is Violet I thought I would go for a purple theme. I started with the image and coloured her in with Flexmarkers and Promarkers. Then I cut her out and added some ruffled ribbon behind.

I found some co-ordinating papers and embossed the lilac card with a regency style embossing folder. I don't know the name of this one as it's the A4 folder that came with my Ebosser.

Next I layered up the other papers with a doily and inked all of the edges with Seedless Preserve Distress Ink.

I made a few rolled flowers by punching some circles and then cutting them into spirals. I added a couple of larger flowers for them to sit on and a few gems to the centres.

I added some more purple ribbon and tied it in a knot down the left edge and then glued on a little purple heart.

I inked all of the edges of the little bird embelly and popped him at the top.

Then all it needed was a little sentiment and a bit more ribbon and bling and all finished lol. What do you think? Hope you like it.

Anyways that's enough from me today, thanks for stopping by. I'll see you all soon.
