It's a puzzle

Good morning crafty friends, hope you are all well. I have the lurgy again (tonsillitis) so have been back to the doctors for more antibiotics. Which I then had a reaction to, anyway I have different ones now so hopefully I will be on the mend soon. But because I haven't been feeling well, I haven't really done any crafting, so I decided that while I was resting I would do the name frame for me, that I have wanted to do for months. Thinking it would be an easy relaxing job! ha ha.

So I got an old Scrabble board and cut it down slightly to fit in a 12 x 12 inch frame.  Then I got all the letters out that I would need for the 23 names in our family. That is when the fun started lol. After puzzling over this (easy) job for quite some time, and nearly getting everyone on a few times, I eventually had to call in some back-up from Jude. Then it still took us over an hour to go from this.....

.....to this. Yeah, we finally got there, and managed to get everyone on, although I must admit we haven't used that 'important' middle square lol.

Then all I had to do was glue all the letters down and fit the board in it's frame.

This will now be going on our staircase somewhere I think. Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Quick card Monday

Hello crafty friends.  Well after a lovely week with my grand daughter I'm back to work today for a rest.  I'd forgotten how exhausting looking after a 3 year old can be!  I was really glad to meet her parents at the airport and hand over responsibility lol.

As I've not been in the craft room much for the last week I needed a quick card to make last night.  As usual when I'm stuck I turn to a sketch for inspiration.  This one is from Mojo Monday back in June - http://mojomonday.com/Sketches/Mojo348Sketch.gif

I was colouring an image and had an incident with a promarker!  It spit out a large blob of ink on my image!! Instead of throwing it away I used a circle die to cut it down and use for this card.

I layered it on several papers from my scrap box and added a word sentiment.

This is the die cut four times and laminated together.

I added a green bow to the top of my finished card.  What do you think?

Name frames

Good morning all, I have had a request for a couple more of the Scrabble tile name frames this week. So this is what they turned out like.

I had to buy a big 12 x 12 frame for this first one as it needed to have 9 names in it.

I added a little bird and an owl to finish it off.

This second one is much smaller so could go in a standard 10 x 8 frame.

And this one just had a little bird added to the corner.

They are both very simple but elegant I think. Hope you like them too.

Take care, see you soon.

More wedding cards

Today I have another Wedding card to share with you. This one was for my nephew Daniel and his partner Staci to send to the happy couple.

The image is a pre-coloured topper from Lili of the Valley, which I layered on two designer papers from the stash.

I used silky crush ribbon, a couple of feathers, a crochet flower and as paper flower to make an embellishment.

I also added a couple of extra flowers and a couple of dark green pearls.

This was quite a quick make as the image was done for me, but I like to think it looks like it took a lot of time and skill, lol!

I have been beading again...

Good morning all, yes I have had the beads out again. I needed to finish a couple of bits for the wedding last weekend, then they didn't really get put away so I have made a couple more pieces this week.

This is the bracelet I made for mum for the wedding. She already had a necklace that she liked so I made the bracelet to match.

Then these are what I wore. I already had the necklace, so I just made it a little longer and then used the same colour beads to make a matching bracelet and earrings.

And finally this little set was a request from my son's girlfriend, Staci. She asked if I had any orange beads left as she would like something to match an outfit.

She loved them, hope you do too.

Take care, see you soon.

Samantha

Hello everyone.  My card today is shared with you from the beautiful Yorkshire coastal town of Filey.

While my daughter is on honeymoon I have been spending the week with my granddaughter.  For a change of scenery I have booked us into a caravan park for three nights, and have taken my Mum along as back up, lol :)

I fancied doing something different but couldn't think what.  Then while browsing a few blogs for inspiration, I came across a stepper card.  I haven't made a stepper card in ages and I really enjoy doing them, so I decided to give it a go.

The image is Samantha from Saturated Canary - http://saturated-canary.myshopify.com/products/samantha

I coloured her with Copics and Promarkers.

I used 3 die cuts to build up the word for the front, but used a single layer on foam pads for the sentiment inside.

This picture shows how badly I need to clean the glass top on my craft table.  It is covered in glue, paper and ink!!

See you at the weekend.  TTFN Jude xx

Happy 30th Birthday

Good morning all.  Today's card is another that I made for Ian last week.

A very simple card using off cuts of papers and card strips.

I found all of the bits and pieces in my scraps box in red, black and grey and then cut them into small strips. I then cut a triangle piece of card the same size as half the card blank front and covered it with the strips of paper using double sided tape.

I neatened all of the edges up with scissors and laid a piece of black card corner to corner.

I used a new Memory Box die for the Happy birthday and then added the 30 with sticky numbers.

To finish the card off I added a couple of strips of matching paper to the inside page.

Hope you like it, take care, see you soon.

The Happy Couple

This is another card I made for Cat and Jamie's Wedding last Saturday.

This fun image is Flapper Couple from Tiddly Inks.

I used several vintage style papers to try and match the feel.

I also added some extra shaped layers between the papers.

The LOVE sentiment was cut out of a larger piece.

I echoed this on the liner page.

This is another angle.

I added another LOTV sentiment.

We used this card to hold some Euros for their holiday, which were their wedding gift from the family.

Hope you like it.

On your Wedding day

Good morning all, hope you are well.

Today's card is the one I made for Cat and Jamie's wedding on Saturday. It's a very simple card but does look very effective IRL.

I stamped the glasses and sentiment on to a piece of white hammered card and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

The heat embossing gives the images a lovely textured and shiny finish and it's a technique I don't use too often.

I used a 7x5 card for the base and backed it with black Coredinations card. Then I added a sheet of acetate over the top to give it a bit of a professional finish.

Then I coloured some white and silver ribbon with a black alcohol marker to finish it off.

Hope you like it. Take care and I'll see you soon.

P.S. I thought I would give you a little sneak of the wedding from Saturday. This is from left to right. Proud mum Jude, grand daughter and flower girl Keira, the beautiful bride Cat, and our gorgeous Mum. All four generations together on one pic, lovely ;o))
