Sepia shades

Hello again and welcome to our last post of February!

My card today is made using up some of the scraps I have collecting in the box on my desk.  It will soon be over flowing so I really need to do something about it - lol.

The image is called Highschool Girl and is from Krista Smith at Saturated Canary.

I coloured her as part of a sepia challenge quite a while ago and she has finally made it on to a card.

I didn't have a specific person in mind when putting this together so I have chosen a generic sentiment.  This means I have a card in readiness should I 'forget' an occasion.

I kept to neutral shades so as not to overwhelm the image and I think it works quite well.  The banners are cut using MFT Blueprints #3 and the curve across the bottom was traced and extended using a die from Blueprints #11.

That's all for today.  We are having a birthday party for our 'little' brother this evening so will have more to report next time.

Jill in purple

Hello everyone.  Hope the weather is nicer where you are.  We have had sleet, snow, rain and high winds the past few days and it doesn't seem to have been light at all!

I have quite a few cards to make over the next week so I am using up some images I have had coloured for a while.  This one is Jill from Saturated Canary.  Unfortunately she is one of a bunch of images that were retired at the end of 2014 so is no longer available.

I used some papers from my scrap box for the background and cut the hello from some left over grey cardstock.

I added three simple lilac pearls to the banner as I didn't think she needed too much decoration.

I intend to continue using up some of the scrap papers I have collected for my cards over the next week or so.  That way I will make room for adding some of the lovely new designs we have purchased lately ;)

Jammin'

The image on my card today is Angie Jam from Saturated Canary.

I've had this image coloured for quite some time and she has finally made it on to a card :)

One of the Lili of the Valley pads I bought at the weekend is called On a High Note and I thought this was perfect for Angie.  She gives me that hipster, rock chick vibe lol.

What do you think?

 Anyway if all has gone to plan, as you read this, I am on a train to Birmingham for a work meeting.  Unfortunately the weather forecast says we are getting some snow overnight, and there may be travel disruptions.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Warmest wishes

Hello friends and happy Thursday to you all.

I have the last of Staci's birthday cards to share with you today.

This is Coffee Run, another Saturated Canary New Year bundle purchase.  There are still two more in the set which are, as yet, uncoloured.  It wouldn't take a genius to work out they will feature on a card very soon lol.

The background papers are from Prima Marketings Princess collection.  This was another Christmas gift and I love the delicate vintage feel.

So that's it for January birthdays.  What to do next??

May in January

Now that I've got Cody's cards all finished I can start on the next birthday which is Staci.  She actually has her birthday before Cody (perhaps I need to organise myself a bit better lol)

This is the first of her cards.

The image is another from the New Year bundle by Krista Smith and is called May.  

I wanted to use a circle matt and spent ages lining up the circle so that the hair wouldn't be cut off.  I fussy cut around the hair and was happy with my 'outside the lines' style cut out.  Unfortunately my clumsiness struck again and I ripped one of the hair strands.  This explains the embellishment over the edge of the circle!

I am really happy with my colouring again and feel I've made some real improvements lately.  Just goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks lol.

The sentiment is from a Molly Moo stamp set which I stamped with Simon Says Stamp Khaki ink.

The flowers and leaf swirl were gifts I received at Christmas and the embellishments at the bottom come from several of the Die-namics Blueprints die sets.

Game Boy

Please forgive the brevity of this post but I'm writing it very late at night.  Can you believe I totally forgot to do a post!!

Any way this is yet another Saturated Canary image called Gamer (https://saturated-canary.myshopify.com/products/gamer)  I coloured him a couple of weeks ago so I really have no excuse for how long it has taken me to make the card.

I used shades of blue for the background and stamped the sentiment with Memento Danube Blue ink.

This is another card that will be sent to my nephew Cody, either from my son Joe or daughter Cat.

Tunes - Cody's birthday

Hello again.  Remember I said I wanted to get ahead with my birthday cards for the month?  Well I've actually started!!

Jen's eldest grandson Cody will be 9 at the end of the month and I now have 2 cards made for him and 2 images coloured, ready to go.

This one is Tunes, part of the New Year release by Krista Smith (new-years-2015-special-bundle) which I just HAD to have lol.

I used a very simple layout and a classic red and blue colour scheme. The sentiment stamp was part of a set I got with the magazine Get Stamping.  I was quite upset when it went out of circulation as it had some good tips and ideas.

When I decide who this will be sent from I will add the appropriate nephew or grandson sentiment.  Until then I am very pleased with this card and I can see improvement in my shading on the image.

Jules for Jen

Hello again.  Jude back with another of Jen's birthday cards.

This one is Jules from Saturated Canary and was the card I made for her son Daniel and his partner, Staci, to send to Jen.

I love red on cards and these flowers add another layer of colour.

Again I nearly forgot a sentiment!  This is a Docrafts stamp cut twice and layered.  I added it to the top left corner.

Carol singing and Chatsworth

Morning everyone.  Well yesterday we went to Chatsworth House to see the Alice's Wonderland display.  The house was very festive (I counted 36 trees!!) and we had a lovely day.  Here are a few pictures.

Jen seemed to enjoy the day and in particular the hot roast pork sandwich in the stables courtyard!

Anyway back to the craft! I decided not to post another birthday card but instead chose another Christmas card lol.

This is Noel Carols from Saturated Canary.

I did a plain and simple card, just adding a poinsettia decoration.

Have a Magical Birthday

Hello crafty friends and welcome to a very special day.  It is the celebration of Jen's 45th birthday!  Yes, my little sister is now officially in her mid 40's lol and back to being just 2 years younger than me ;)

Last night we had a family meal at a local restaurant and today we are off on a magical mystery tour.  Jen has no idea where we are going and she hates it.  She tries but really doesn't like secrets and not knowing what's happening (control freak? no not Jen lol!)  I will report back at another time on our outing.

 

This is the wonderful Magical Books and Unicorns which I used for my card to Jen.  I love how this card came together, everything just worked - it's probably because it was made with a lot of love :)

I have a tendency to go mad with flowers but I felt I couldn't get away with less than this.  What do you think?

At the last minute I remembered to add a sentiment (DUH!)  This is from Lili of the Valley.

Buddies

I have another of Bailey's birthday cards to show you today.  This one was for my daughter to send.

I used papers from the stash and a sentiment die that came free on a magazine.  It has been used quite a lot since we got it.

I used several colours of Copic pen to add dots to the background, which looked good before I die cut it.  I think if I do it again I will leave the background much plainer.

Grad Boy

Today I have another of Daniel's Graduation cards to share (it makes a change from Christmas cards!)

I used paper from Digi Stamp Boutique with card from the stash.  The sentiment is made up with Docrafts letters from the Madame Payraud range.

Little Nikki

Hello again.  Today I want to share three Christmas cards made with the lovely Nikki from Saturated Canary.

I chose different colours for each version but stuck to the same sort of layout.

The Christmas Tree is a Sizzix sizzlit, and makes a perfect accent piece, especially with a touch of Wink of Stellar clear on the star and baubles.

These are quite small cards (15cm x 10cm) meaning Nikki had to be just 8cm tall and 4cm wide.  This made colouring her a challenge but I don't think I did too badly.

Reading Beauty

Good morning all, well it's the start of another week, are you all ready for it? I don't think I am, I'd much rather be getting set up in the craft room than going to work lol. 

Anyway, today's card is a little bit different for me. I decided to colour an image using the one pencil technique that I learned at our last dabble day. 

I used Reading Beauty from Saturated Canary, and I'm really pleased with how she came out. 

I used an 8b graphite pencil and a paper stump to blend, and kept a new eraser handy to clean it up a bit as I do tend to get very messy hands lol. 

I used paper from the Midnight Blush collection from Docrafts/Papermania, and used some black lace across the card. Then I added some tiny pearl beads. 

The sentiment is cut using an Impression Obsession die and the flower is a gel sticker that I've had forever. 

I finished her off by just adding a few tiny pearls to her headband.
