Funfair

Hello and thanks for joining us.
My card today is the last of the teenage birthday cards I made for Jen's grandson Cody.

As I said before I find male cards quite challenging and when the recipient is 13 - well need I say more?

I eventually decided to go with a funfair idea although I must admit this is the second attempt!
I cut two banners from coloured card and added them to a blue card blank.

I then stamped around these with images from Hero Arts.  These are from the July My Monthly Hero kit.

I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to get a crisp dark silhouette for the funfair.  I also used the MISTI so I could stamp several times if needed.

I stamped the sentiment on some more of the card used for the banners and fussy cut it out.

I'm pleased with how this turned out after a false start.  What do you think?

Mis Amigos

Hello again.
Today's card was sent to my great-nephew Cody for his 12th birthday last week.

This set is the wonderful Three Amigos from Mama Elephant.  I love that the messages can be changed to fit whatever you want to say.

I also knew Cody would appreciate the humour in these sentiments, as he enjoys a joke :)

I coloured the characters with Copic markers, cut them with the matching dies and added them to some stitched squares.  These were then raised on fun foam and added to a piece of patterned paper.

The finishing touch was some black liquid pearls.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Inlays

Happy Friday everyone - even if it is the unlucky 13th!
Are you looking forward to the weekend as much as I am?

The idea for my card today came again from Jennifer McGuire and the inlay technique she has used on several projects.
I wanted to try it with a sentiment die and a shape, so I went with this happy birthday die in a circle.

I first cut the circle and then the word.
I cut the word a second time in red and then just pieced it back together.
I made sure to keep the small areas from the die cut so I could fill in the background area.
I then multi-cut the nephew sentiment and stacked them for some dimension.

For the background I repeat stamped a sentiment in Altenew's Arctic Blue dye ink and added the number 11  in red.  This card is for my nephew's 11th birthday later this month.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Male birthday

I've got another male birthday card to share with you today.
This one is going to Cody next weekend for his 10th birthday.

I used scraps from my box and the MFT Blueprints 15 die set.  It's a great way to use up some of those 'not quite big enough' pieces but still have an effective design.

I love this combination of colours and think it's really suitable for a young man.  Different colours would make it suitable for anyone.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

10 out of 10

Hi all!
Jude back with another card I made last weekend.  I'm playing catch up already and really need to start getting ahead!

This is the first of my makes for Cody at the end of the month.  As you might guess he hits the double digits this year.  His nan (Jen) has told him he needs to stop getting older now! LOL

The animals are from the Critters at the Dog Park and Party Animal, both by Lawn Fawn.  The balloon was cut using a circle die with a strip left hanging over the edge to make the neck.

The sentiment was cut twice and layered for dimension.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Sailing

Good morning everyone, hope you are well and having a good week.

It was my eldest grandson's 9th Birthday yesterday, so this is the card that me and his grandad sent him.

It was only when I was making cards for Cody that I realised we don't have that many images for boys/men so this will have to be rectified soon lol. Anyway this image is a pre-coloured one from a Lili of the Valley artpad.

I used an MFT Blueprints set to cut the stitched rectangles and the papers are from the Ahoy There paper pad by Docrafts.

I used a dark blue card to back it all and cut the word tags, then I added it to a 7 x 7 card blank.

I had the little wooden nautical embellishments in the stash and thought they went well with this card.

The Happy Birthday and Grandson are cut from Coredinations card using Britannia dies and the tags are cut with the MFT Blueprints set.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Superhero

I know I said I had completed all the January birthdays, but Jen asked me to make an extra card.

This is another for Cody.  I printed and coloured 2 images and decoupaged them to give a bit of dimension and interest.

The fabulous digi image is a freebie from Bugaboo stamps.  They give away a free image every Friday - http://www.bugaboostamps.com/Freebies

I printed a third image and left it uncoloured to add to the inside.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Panda hugs

Happy Sunday friends.

I'm continuing the theme of birthday cards for Cody with what should have been a simple design.  I took a small panda and stamped it 8 times in black and once in red.  So far so good.

I then added the numbers and this is where it went wrong!  I am quite clumsy and I managed to rub too hard on the first row to get a mark off and rubbed the paper away!!

Rather than be defeated I cut the card into strips and restamped the first row.  I then matted the strips with black card and used a bigger card blank.  Phew - card saved.

The same can't be said for an image I coloured back in November to use for Cody.
I had it on my desk ready to use once I finished the pandas.  When I picked up the red ink to stamp the last number I dropped it and it fell straight across my image!  I WAS NOT HAPPY!!

I had been really pleased with the image and was looking forward to using it.  That will teach me to not have too much on my desk.

Catch you soon.  TTFN Jude xx

Birthday monkey

Good morning all, hope you are well.

Today's card is another I have made for my grandson's birthday at the end of the month.

This time I have used the Birthday Monkey digi stamp from All Dressed Up. I coloured him with Copics and then cut him out with an MFT Pierced Squares die.

The paper is from a new pad I got for Christmas called What a Hoot by Trimcraft.

I used a coordinating card from Coredinations and then used the same colour to cut the number 9 and the name.

Both of these are cut with X-Cut dies.

That's another one off the crafty list, doing well so far lol.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Tunes - Cody's birthday

Hello again.  Remember I said I wanted to get ahead with my birthday cards for the month?  Well I've actually started!!

Jen's eldest grandson Cody will be 9 at the end of the month and I now have 2 cards made for him and 2 images coloured, ready to go.

This one is Tunes, part of the New Year release by Krista Smith (new-years-2015-special-bundle) which I just HAD to have lol.

I used a very simple layout and a classic red and blue colour scheme. The sentiment stamp was part of a set I got with the magazine Get Stamping.  I was quite upset when it went out of circulation as it had some good tips and ideas.

When I decide who this will be sent from I will add the appropriate nephew or grandson sentiment.  Until then I am very pleased with this card and I can see improvement in my shading on the image.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Gaming is my life

Good morning all and Happy New Year. I really hope this will be a great year for all.

I am trying to get a little ahead on my cards, (not a new years resolution, just something I should do lol). So I have started on my grandson's birthday cards for the end of January. This one will be from one of his aunts and uncles.

I have used the Gaming is my life digi stamp from Digi Stamp Boutique.

I coloured it with Copics and then cut it out with a Spellbinders Circles die.

The paper is from the stash, I really do need to look for some more male papers, as most of ours are quite girly.

I have used a couple of different shades of olive green Coredinations card stock and then used Britannia dies to cut out the Nephew and Happy Birthday.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Happy 8th Birthday Cody

Good morning all. Today is my grandson's 8th birthday, they grow up far too quickly lol. So this is the card that I made for Alan and I to send to him.

The image is Popcorn the Bear from Crafters Companion, coloured with Flexmarkers and then cut out with Spellbinders Majestic Squares.

I matted him on Kraft card and then layered him on some papers that I had on my desk lol. Then sat them all on some blue Centura Pearl card on an A5 card blank.

The grandson and number 8 are silver peel offs, but the Happy Birthday I stamped on to Kraft card and then cut in to a small banner.

Anyway that's all from me today. I hope Cody has the best birthday ever and I'll see you all soon.

Take care.
