Big Sister Day

Hello again.  Well yesterday my daughter had her 23rd birthday, but she spent most of it with the midwife having a check up and needles :(

We did get together for cake and presents last night, but we are going out for a family meal to a tapas restaurant on Saturday.

As her younger brother isn't able to sort cards etc on his own, I always do something for him.  This understated little card was lovely to make.

I used a couple of matching papers from my scrap stash with some shimmery cream card.

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's scripty sentiments (again).

The sister was cut twice and layered to give some substance.

Hope you like it.

Sun Rays

Good morning all, today is my niece, Cats birthday, and this is one of the cards I have made for her.

She loves yellow so this one should be a winner lol. I used the new Sun Ray cover up from MFT Stamps, then inked a piece of card for behind it with three different coloured Distress Inks.

I used Scattered Straw, then Mustard Seed and then a tiny bit of Tea Dye to darken the centre.

The stamp is from the Blue Skies Ahead MFT Stamps set, stamped with Mustard Seed Distress Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I used a pale blue card for the background and some little gold corners to make the panel stand out.

Then I finished it off with some sparkly sequins in gold, silver and bronze.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Stamped sentiments

This has to be one of the easiest cards I have ever made.  The only difficult part was lining up the stamps!  This was fixed by drawing a pencil line :)

I chose 3 different inks and stamped the sentiment on a piece of plain white cardstock.

I backed this with a piece of co-ordinating card and added 3 pearls to the corner.

How easy was that?

Happy Everything

Good morning all and happy Monday. Today's card is made using some of the items from our latest craft haul, and I love this new Happy Everything stamp set from MFT Stamps.

It comes with a couple of big Happy stamps and then lots of other different words so you can stamp a few different sayings.

I stamped it with Dew Drop Galaxy Gold ink and then heat embossed with clear fine detail embossing powder.

The paper is from my scraps box so I'm not sure which collection it's from lol. The die cut piece is a cover up called Proof Positive, also from MFT Stamps.

The little badge in the corner was in last month's Studio Calico kit and matches the die cut with having the positive sign.

The rose die was a free gift on a magazine, and I cut it with plain white card and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Beautiful Hearts

As part of the February kit from Simon Says Stamp, we got  several of these small note cards.

They have some lovely sayings on them and I wanted to make one the focal point of my card, and keep the rest quite plain.

As usual though I get antsy when there is too much space on the card.
I decided to have some very simple decoration and using a double sided paper, just cut several hearts.

I flipped the hearts so that the other colour showed and placed a similar colour behind the die cuts.

So that's all folks:)
A very simple card using very little other than one piece of paper, a note card and 1 die.

Sweet window

Good morning all, hope you are well and enjoying your weekend so far.

Today's card is another attempt at a shaker card, this time using a window die.

The window die is from Britannia Dies, and I cut it on plain white card.

Then I made a pocket at the back with two sheets of acetate, but this time I used a double layer of foam tape to give the sequins more space. I also dusted around the edge of the tape with clear embossing powder to try and stop the sequins from sticking to the tape.

I used a piece of lilac Centura Pearl card for the background and then filled the window with a mix of different colour sequins.

The 'Sweet as you are' stamp is from from Clearly Besotted, and the 'It's your birthday' stamp is part of the Simon Says Stamp April card kit.

I stamped them both with Elderberry Memento Ink and then heat embossed with Fine Detail clear embossing powder.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Sparkle and Shine

I've found myself using a lot of the Simon Says Stamp items we have bought, for my cards recently.

This one uses stamps and embossing powder from the December 2014 kit.

I stamped all the elements with Versamark then embossed with liquid platinum powder.  Against the card it looks very golden.

There is a great variety of stamp styles in these kits and items I wouldn't necessarily have bought as individual items.

This isn't my usual style and I like that the kits help to push me outside of my comfort zone.

Hope you like it too.  TTFN Jude xx

One of THOSE cards

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week.

Do you ever have one of those times when you have an idea for a card in your head - but try as you might you can't get it to look like you imagined???? well today's card is one of those for me.

We got some new dies last week and these Happy Birthday Layer Makers by Frantic Stamper Inc were the ones I really wanted to use.

I had this vision for a card with a different sized front and back, using the dies as the main focal point. But when I came to do it, I just couldn't get the image down on the paper. The back section was fine but I tried to cut three layers with the front die and it wouldn't go through so I ended up having to finish it with my scalpel.

Then I used the Spellbinders Die D-Lite Flower Patch die for the flowers and heat embossed it with Shabby Pink Frantage. This looks lovely but doesn't really stand out enough on my chosen papers, which were from the Lillibet pad.

I struggled with what to put on the inside as it looked too plain just left white. In the end I used a flower stamp from this month's Studio Calico Kit and stamped it with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. Then I matted this with more of the dark pink card.

I also covered the inside front page with some of the paper from the front.

Then I added a piece of dusky pink satin ribbon across the bottom and tied a little bow. Finally I finished it off with a few pink and clear crystal gems.

All in all I'm not too unhappy with it, but it really was a lot of effort for something that's just OK lol. Anyway hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Squares

Hello friends.  I was browsing through ideas at the weekend, mainly for the March Simon Says Stamp kit.  I found loads that I want to try.  This is the first.

I cut 2 inch squares from 3 co-ordinating papers and fixed them to a piece of A4 shimmer card.
I laid the card across my 6 x 6 blank and trimmed to fit.

The sentiment die is a relatively new purchase and this is the first time I have used it.
Once the card was 'finished' I thought the top looked too bare.  I took the off cut of card and used it to create a second panel.

I think it looks good and, while fiddly, was not a difficult card to make.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx
