Twooo of you

Good morning all, hope your week is going well, Jude and I are getting the last few things sorted today before we fly off to Ibiza for a week tomorrow. It's a relief that Mum is now doing really well after her knee replacement so we can go away and not worry about her. Too much ;o))

This card is one I made a few weeks ago for my daughter and son-in-law's wedding anniversary. It was the first time I had played with a new set from MFT Stamps which I won in an Instagram Giveaway back in July!!!!

For the base I used a piece of Kraft card and ran it through a Tim Holtz embossing folder to give a wood grain effect. Then I layered it on to dark brown card and a cream 7 x 5 card blank. I cut the tree from the same brown card then the owls from white card and coloured them with Copics.

I punched tiny hearts from three different shades of green card and then cut them in half to make leaves for the tree. Then I punched a few in red card for the centre. The sentiment stamp is from a Crafters Companion Sentimentals set and is stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

'Owl' love you always

Hello again

This card was made for my brother John, to send to Catherine and Jamie last week.

The owls and tree are from a My Favourite Things stamp and die set called Things with Wings.  I originally intended to die cut them and have some dimension, but I loved the flat look.

The only dimension comes from the die cut clouds.  These use another set called Hello Sunshine, made by Lawn Fawn.

I then added a sentiment from a Cheery Lynn Designs die.

Hope you like it.

Birthday Circle

Good Morning all, hope you have had a good weekend. Jude and I have been getting things ready for our holiday and trying to get some blog posts scheduled for while we are away.

Luckily I had quite a few cards made that I haven't yet posted so I was able to use some of these. This card is one I made a few weeks ago for a friend at work. I won this Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle die in an Instagram giveaway.

It is a lovely die and also comes with the cupcake die too. I cut the happy birthday circle from black card and then used it as a frame on a piece of white card with a circle aperture cut in to it.

I used a 7 x 7 card blank and a piece of bright paper for the base, then put the white layer on top. I then cut the cupcake die from black card and from a stripey paper and layer them together to make the cupcake. Then I added some glossy accents and a few micro beads to make the sprinkles on top.

I used the Finlays ABC's dies from Lawn Fawn for the letters, then finished the card with a few sequins.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Sky trails

This is the anniversary card I made for my granddaughters to send to Mummy and Daddy last weekend.

I started off by inking a piece of white card with a Dew Drop ink (pearlescent sky blue) to look like a cloudy sky.  I don't think it came out too badly.
I then added an inked plane and sentiment using the stamped die cuts.

I love this little aeroplane and its various trailing sentiments.  There are several word trails and a banner with sentiments to be stamped inside.

This time I used one of the smoke formation sentiments and a few heart-shaped smoke rings.  They were a little fiddly to cut and stamp, but worth the effort.

The other sentiment is made up from a couple of other stamp sets.

Hope you like it.

Male 30th birthday card

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week. Today's card is one I made last month for a friend of my son's who turned 30.

I didn't have a clue what to use for the card, but I was reliably informed that he likes motor bikes. Well I didn't have a motor bike stamp but I do have a scooter stamp so that's what he got lol.

The Scooter and sentiment stamps are from Crafters Companion and are part of the Camden Town Male set. I stamped the scooter with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with Seafoam White embossing powder.

The 30 is made by stamping Owens ABC's from Lawn Fawn with Jet Black Archival on to red card and then cutting them out with the corresponding dies.

I used an 8 x 8 blank card for the base and then layered black, red and grey card on the front, finishing off with a white top layer, which I cut an oval aperture in. Then I sat the scooter image behind it.

I used another stamp from the same set to stamp the tyre tracks and then replicated this on the inside of the card with Washi Tape and an inner paper.

Then I used a Simon Says Stamp set to stamp a sentiment in the centre.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Die cuts and washi

I don't seem do as many male cards as female, even though there are more men than women in our immediate family.  How does that work??
Jen reckons it's because we make fewer cards for each male birthday than female - she's usually right so I'm going with that explanation - lol

This card is left over from Alan's birthday a few weeks ago.  It's a simple idea using different layers of die cuts to create the sentiment, and washi tape for decoration.

Once the main die cutting was done putting the layers together took no time at all.  However it then looked a little plain, so I added a star in the top corner and some gold liquid pearls.

I think they finished it off nicely.  What do you think?

Washi Tape and a Bike!

Good morning all, the title of this post doesn't really sound great does it? but I couldn't come up with anything else lol.

But I do love this card, it's one of my favourites of my recent makes. It's very simple to make too.

I used a 7 x 7 blank card and a piece of patterned paper from the Dovecrafts Monochrome Back to Basics 8 x 8 pad. Then a piece of white linen card for the front.

Then I used 4 different Washi Tapes and laid them at an angle across the front.

The Bike is an MFT Stamps die and I cut this from thick grey card. Then I used a Lawn Fawn Scripty Saying stamp for the sentiment.

As the card was going to a good friend I wanted to put a sentiment on the inside too, so I used this one from Molly Moo stamps. Then I added a few flowers to the bike and it was all done.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

One year on

Good morning all.  I'm safely back from Birmingham so you can rest easy now, lol!

Yesterday was my daughter and son-in-law's wedding anniversary.  It doesn't feel like a whole year but it is.  I saw a similar print to this one on Pinterest and loved the idea so adapted it for a card.

The idea is to count all the days, minutes, seconds etc. since the wedding.  I thought this was such a clever idea and set out to copy it in a word document, which I could then resize to fit a 5 x 7 card blank.

Typing out the details took hardly any time at all.  Getting everything in to a decent looking font and lining it all up took forever!
I won't be dashing to do one again, lol.

I'm will be framing it for them later this week, so they can hang it on the stair case.

Cat and Jamie love the card.  Hope you do to.

Embossed flowers

Good morning all, are you looking forward to the weekend? I know I am. I'm hoping to get some rest this weekend, as this latest flare up is wiping me out !!!

Another really simple card today. This one I made for an anniversary, but it could quite easily be changed for a birthday or general card, by just changing the sentiment.

I used an embossing folder that has the flower and dots design on it. It also has a large flower at the top which I thought was perfect for cutting out. So I used a small Spellbinders Circle die to cut out the centre and then used a Lili of the Valley ready made sentiment to sit behind.

I matted this piece with silver card and then added it to a 7 x 5 white card blank. Then I added a piece of pink polka dot ribbon and another sentiment from a Nitwit Collections stamp set.

Then all it needed was a few silver sequins to finish it off.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Hearts and bows

Good morning all, Jude is away in Birmingham this week, so you have me again today, thought I would step in so she doesn't have to try loading a blog post on her phone lol.

Today's card is one I made for K and Ian's wedding anniversary earlier this month, this was the one I made for mum to send them. I started with a piece of Hunkydory patterned card that Jude has had forever, and cut it down to fit on a 7 x 5 pink card blank.

Then I used the same card to cut some Sizzix Scalloped Hearts and the Sue Wilson Bow.

I then cut down a piece of white card and ran it through the Sue Wilson Entwined Hearts embossing folder and layered it on the front of the card.

I arranged my hearts and bow and then used an old Happy Anniversary stamp for the sentiment.

I stamped this with Lilac Posies Dewdrop ink and then cut it out and rounded the corners.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.
