Little bird

Morning all.  Jen and I went out for a meal last night so our offering had to be quickly made before we left as neither of us had anything made!!

I had this bird coloured as I was trying out a background technique for clouds.  I don't think it's too bad but I need more practice.

I simply stamped with a flourish and black archival ink onto a 6 x 6 blank.  The bird was cut out with a circle die and matted with black card.  I then added a simple sentiment.

Job done!!  We promise to have something sorted for tomorrow and not wait until the last minute again lol.

Sweet Pea

Hello again.  My card today is made using a Kaisercraft pad called Sweet Pea, an All Dressed Up digi stamp and Tattered Forals die.  The paper pad was another freebie with a magazine subscription.  It's always nice to try something new when you haven't paid extra for it lol ;)

I used four papers from the pad and mounted two on to orange card.  The other two went onto an adhesive sheet to make a double sided paper to use for the flower.  This picture shows the paper on the reverse.  I did this to make the paper thicker and also in case the underside could be seen.  In the end I made a flat flower so I could have stuck with just one sheet!

The image was coloured with Promarkers and cut out freehand.  I mounted her on to some more orange card before adding to the finished card.

I used an 8 x 8 card blank and added a piece of green backing paper from my scrap box.  The edges of this and the other papers were smudged with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.  This is such a versatile colour.

The other layers were attached at angles to each other and my rub on sentiment applied to the top paper.

I added my girl, the tattered flower and a few drops of Olympic Gold PVA to finish off.  What do you think?

Sophia and flowers

Good morning all, hope you are all having a good week. I've been having a bit of a look around blogland for some inspiration this week and came across Digi Stamp Boutique from one of the blogs I visit regularly. Well all I can say is I ended up buying 9 new digis! lol. So today's card is made with one of those.

This is Sophia and flowers.

Isn't she a cutie? I coloured her with Spectrum Noirs and cut her out with Spellbinders Opulent Ovals. Then went around the edge with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.

The papers are from the Kaiserkraft Sweet Pea collection and the yellow card is Coredinations.

I added small flat backed gems to the centre of the flowers and then added flowers and leaves from the stash.

I finished the card with a little gold heart charm. What do you think? Hope you like it. Take care and come back soon.

For the men

I have a couple of very quick cards to share with you today.

The idea came from a Pinterest post, as have quite a few lately lol ;)  The blog was this one (http://ruthsstampingcorner.blogspot.co.uk).  I haven't had a proper look around but I like what I've seen so far.

I took a large Happy Birthday stamp and using Momento black ink stamped the bottom corner of my white card.  This was layered on a dark green and the paper behind covers the whole of a 5 x 7 blank.

The papers are all Studio Calico from the Take Note collection.  I like their papers as they are very good quality.

I cut several strips of paper and formed a v on the end to look like a pennant, then added these at various heights on the card.

A couple of buttons finish them off and I am pleased with the result.  There are bits I could do differently but overall the two cards took 15 minutes so I can't complain!

Catch you soon.  TTFN Jude xx

Happy 8th Birthday Cody

Good morning all. Today is my grandson's 8th birthday, they grow up far too quickly lol. So this is the card that I made for Alan and I to send to him.

The image is Popcorn the Bear from Crafters Companion, coloured with Flexmarkers and then cut out with Spellbinders Majestic Squares.

I matted him on Kraft card and then layered him on some papers that I had on my desk lol. Then sat them all on some blue Centura Pearl card on an A5 card blank.

The grandson and number 8 are silver peel offs, but the Happy Birthday I stamped on to Kraft card and then cut in to a small banner.

Anyway that's all from me today. I hope Cody has the best birthday ever and I'll see you all soon.

Take care.

Hello girls

Hello lovely visitor. Thank you for joining us again.

Today's card is another made from my scrap box. The image is from the Wear With Style set I purchased a few days ago and is all the girls together.

The background is three papers from my Amy Tangerine pad.  These were odd shaped pieces but when I fit them together I found I could make a sort of sun ray design.  I was going to cut them into thinner strips and make a proper sun ray but in the end I decided to stick with them whole.  I think it works ok and will try the layout again using thinner pieces.  The bottom corner has a kraft card circle cut to fit but is now covered by my flower!  All the edges have been inked with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.

I am very fond of this image; it's fun, girly and would be suitable for a variety of occasions.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and mainly stuck to pinks, purples and browns.  I inked the edge with Scattered Straw and matted with kraft card.

The sentiment is cut from another piece of the paper, but I have to confess this is not from the scrap box!  I had to use a new sheet but at least the rest is now scrap lol ;)

I mounted the sentiment on more kraft card added my paper rose to the bottom, then made some curls from the wire stems of the flowers.  These are so easy to do but I love the effect they give.

So that's how it was done.  The whole piece is a 6 x 6 card blank and I can think of several occasions that I could use it for, so I don't think it will sit in our stash for long.

That's all from me for today.  TTFN Jude xx

Happy Birthday Staci

Good morning all, it's Jen back today. I've had a few days off as I haven't had the chance to get in the craft room, so Jude has very kindly been covering for me. But today I can share the card that I made for my son to send to his girlfriend who's birthday it is today.

They are currently having a few days break in Barcelona, lucky things, so we won't see them today but we will speak to Staci and wish her a very happy birthday from all of us.

I started with the stamp on this one which is a freebie from one of my latest crafty mags. Isn't she lovely?

I coloured her with Promarkers and cut her out with Spellbinders Labels 29.

I used papers from the stash, matted with coredinations purple card, together with a round and a heart shaped doily for the layers.

Then I added two different sized mulberry paper hearts which Staci brought me back from Thailand last year.

I added a mixture of flowers and a punched butterfly and then some rose ribbon down the left side.

Then I finished the card with a couple of sentiments, one ready made and the other I did on the PC and cut out with Spellbinders Framed Tags one.

I hope you like it, see you soon, take care.

Lego card

Morning all.  Judy again with the last of Cody's birthday cards (well from me at least!).

I was really stuck and turned to Pinterest for inspiration, where I found several Lego effect cards.  This is taken from this post. It seemed fortuitous that the recipient of this card was also 8!

This is a 6 x 6 card blank matted with black card.
The Lego blocks weren't difficult, just time consuming.  I used a hole punch to make the little dots and the tiniest of foam pads to raise them.

The sentiment is from a freebie set on a recent magazine (can't remember which one!) but I felt it called for an exclamation mark like the original.

So that's my Lego card.  What do you think?

Mojo Monday 329

Morning again lovely people.  Hope you are having a fabulously crafty week.

I've recently started looking at some of the challenge blogs and particularly the ones with a sketch to follow.  I'm finding it quite difficult to come up with ideas at present!

Anyway a few weeks ago I stumbled across Mojo Monday.  They have some fabulous sketches and the ideas from the DT are so inspiring.  This weeks sketch featured a circle and I just happened to have a circular decoupage topper I made up (just because....) so it seemed fate was telling me to make a card for this week's challenge lol.

Here's the sketch....

...and here is my card.  What do you think?

It's not brilliant and I should have used a different green card stock.  I chose this one because I am also trying to use up my scrap box!!  It has a ridiculous amount of 'scrap' in there.

I've actually sorted this out and got rid of the rubbish!! I might have a long way to go lol ;)

So that's today's card.  Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

To a Great-Grandson

Morning all.  As you know, this weekend we have been busy making birthday cards for Jen's grandson, Cody.  We have sent them down with his uncle Danny and auntie Staci who stayed at his house last night, en route to Liverpool airport this morning for a flight to Barcelona.  Lucky beggars!

So this is the card I made for my parents (Cody's Great-Grandparents!) to send.  What do you think?

The paper is from a Bo Bunny set which I think is called On the Go.  I drew the letters out freehand and matted them on yellow card.  This was then cut to follow the word.  Then it was a simple matter of building up coloured layers until the word fit comfortably on a DL card blank.

The embellishments are a Spellbinder die set called Cogs, and these are the three smallest dies.  I think they work quite well.

I took the largest of the three dies and stamped my sentiment.

Once it was all together I was very happy with how it looked.  It was quite quick and simple to make once the letters were cut.  Hope you like it.

See you soon.  TTFN Jude xx
