Hello again.  Thanks for being here.

I was scrolling Pinterest recently looking for ideas for a leaving card for a colleague. I wanted something a bit different and I think I found it.

I saw this great idea for just using strips of paper, so I decided to copy it.  I can't now remember the original source, so apologies to the originator!

I took thin strips of black card and shaped them using my bone folder, a pencil and a quilling tool. These were then arranged into a sad face. 

The hardest part was gluing thin card on it's edge.  I kept sticking it to my fingers instead of the card!

I added a sarcastic sentiment to the bottom then stuck the piece to some lovely blue shimmer pearl card.  This sentiment was from Hero Arts.

The final touch were some Nuvo vintage drops in bonnie blue.  I added drops then pulled one end to create a tear drop.

Teenager Warning ....

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week. Today's card is one I made for my grandson last month, but I have been having problems getting the pictures bright enough to use on the blog. The weather was so horrible and grey the last week of January here, that all of my images that I took that week have this awful blue/grey tinge to them.

Anyway, I got this idea from Pinterest, for a teenager warning card, and then I just adapted it slightly to suit my grandson. 

I mocked up the images on the PC and printed them on to glossy photo paper. Then I cut the main image out with a circle die from Spellbinders, so that I could raise it on fun foam for a bit of dimension.

I cut out the text section in to a rectangle leaving a white border, and then ended up raising it the same way using fun foam for dimension. Then I added the panel to a 6 x 4 white note card to finish.

Frozen Fractals

Hello again friends and hello November!

Can you believe we have less than 8 weeks until Christmas?  I really need to get busy!!

My cards for today all use a Simon Says Stamp set called Frozen Fractals.  I love these elaborate snowflakes and they look so good embossed in silver detail embossing powder.

The idea for these cards came from Pinterest.  I've no idea who did the original but I've seen several variations of this card.

I masked an area of the card with masking tape and post-it notes, then blended three distress oxide inks to get the depth I wanted in the background.

I then stamped my snowflakes with Versamark and added the embossing powder.

I also stamped and embossed a sentiment on to two of the cards.  The third has nothing on the front but does have a sentiment on the inside.

I added some finishing details with a silver pen and some flat diamond gems, then adhered the cards to blue and cream bases.

Strips

Thank you for being with us today.

Please excuse the picture quality.  I'm struggling to get the light right in our craft room on the darker evenings!

Today's card came from an idea I found on Pinterest (albertascloset.com)

It is very simple and as I was looking for masculine card ideas this really fit the bill.

I used a strip of scrap card from our stash and cut apart the different layers in it.  This was I ended up with several strips of differing width.

I stamped the sentiment from Big Birthday Wishes by Simon Says Stamp using memento black ink.

I then used a liquid glue to add the strips above and below the sentiment.

I think this is a great way to use up card scraps.  What do you think?

Sending Happy Thoughts

Hello and thank you for visiting us today.

I had a fabulous holiday in New Zealand, but now I'm back I need to get stuck in to some card making.

Today's offering is a design I put together before I went away as I haven't yet made anything new that I can share.

The idea came from a card I saw on Pinterest but I don't remember who made it.  It is a simple idea using a patterned paper, a sentiment and some ribbon.

I cut a piece of patterned paper the same size as a standard card blank, then cut this in two.

I adhered the papers to pieces of white card stock and added the sentiment above.

I then dug through my stash to find trims which picked up one of the colours in the paper.

 I matched the colours up to a piece of card from the stash to make a matt so the panel stood out against the white card blank.  As my patterned paper had so many colours in it, it was easy to find trims and card to match.

This clean design is easily made and could be used for any occasion.  Depending on the colours and paper chosen, it could also become a masculine card.

Scrabble Tile Fifty Card

Good morning folks, I hope you are having a good week. We are on the countdown now to Jude and our brother JP going off to New Zealand. I am starting to wonder though if it was something I said. My son and daughter-in-law are still travelling and currently in Australia, my daughter and family are on holiday in France, my grandsons have been in Wales for the last couple of weeks, and now my sis and bro are leaving for New Zealand, for a month!!!!! Talk about giving a girl a complex lol 😉

Anyway, today's card was one I made for Jude's 50th back at the beginning of July, but in the end I didn't use it. However it won't go to waste as Jude has a few friends who also celebrate their half century this year, so it will go to a good home.

I got the idea on Pinterest again, and as I have quite a lot of Scrabble tiles from various projects it was perfect to use up some of my stash.

I  wrote the text on the PC and then printed it on Neenah Desert Storm card. Then I added the scrabble tiles with Cosmic Shimmer glue, as it holds anything !

The little heart is also wooden and came in a set, but I can't remember the make. I just coloured it red with a Copic marker.

Happy Birthday 2 Char

Good morning all, are you as glad as me that it's finally Friday? I am sooooooo looking forward to the weekend, and hopefully some crafty time.

Today's card is another that I made for our great niece's birthday on Tuesday. This was derived from an idea on Pinterest, and adapted to suit the supplies I have.

I used the WeR Memory Keepers, small Alphabet Punch Board to cut the number 2 from stripey card.  I put the number straight on to the card front and then added the rest of the design around it. 

The bird is from the My Favourite Things, Things With Wings set. I stamped it on to patterned paper and then cut it out with the matching die. I also cut it out a 2nd time on to plain card, then glued them both together. 

The Banner at the top is from the Lawn Fawn Bannerific Stamp and Die set. I stamped the Avery Elle sentiment with Black Tuxedo and the banner with Angel Pink Memento ink.

Then I added Char at the bottom using the Concord and 9th Sophisticated Script stamp set, and finished the card off by stamping small flowers from the Things With Wings set all over the background using a few more colours of Memento Ink - Dandelion, New Sprout and Rosebud.

Oldometer

Good morning all, and happy Hump day. Today's card has been dragged up from my stash of unblogged cards, as it's been that long since I made anything, I am running out of things to show 😲lol. 

I saw a card like this last year on Pinterest. But when I went back to try and find it again, so I could link to it, I can't find it........ So if anyone knows who made the original one, I will be happy to add it in.

I just loved the idea, and thought it would be perfect for my son-in-law's birthday last year. I used the PC to make the numbers and Oldometer sign. Then printed them on plain white card and inked them with Old Paper, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain, Distress Inks.

I just kept blending small amounts of the inks until I was happy with an aged look.

I cut the frame from brown card and just used a rectangle die twice to cut the windows. Then I added the inked background behind.

I found a piece of coordinating background paper in a Nit Wit Collections pad, and added this to an 8 x 8 plain white card blank. Then added the panel and name plate on top.

Reflection die cut

Good morning all, I hope you have had a good week. We are celebrating a birthday a Christening and an Anniversary in the next few days, so It's going to be a busy weekend lol.

I needed another male card a few weeks ago so while looking for inspiration I found this card on Pinterest. I really liked the colours and the use of the large word so I set about to make something along those lines, only I don't really do CAS so mine is much fussier !

I used some dark grey card for the background and then cut the MFT Skyline from a pale silver card and the background die from black card. I had to cut the background one back to front so that I could use it as a mirror image. 

I then die cut the Birthday die from the Happy Birthday Layer Makers by Frantic Stamper, and covered it with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Fine Detail Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.

I placed this across the middle of the panel and then went over the black silhouette with a Clear Wink of Stella pen, to give it some shimmer.

To finish the card off I stamped a Happy sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set and added some clear Gems and sequin stars.
