Today is my son's 28th birthday, and as he is partial to the odd glass of a well known stout, as we all are!!! I thought I would make him this card.

The idea came from the little Toucan included in the June 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit, from Hero Arts. As soon as I saw him, I remembered the Guinness adverts with the toucan, so decided to give it a go.

I stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then coloured him with Copic markers, then I cut him out with his matching die.

For the glass, I used one of the coffee cups from the August 2018 Hero Arts Kit, I cut this from black card, and then again from white card, then cut the white one down to just sit at the top of the glass.

I wrote my sentiment on the laptop, and printed a harp image using the Laser jet printer, then foiled them with the Minc Machine and Rose Gold Foil. I cut the sentiment with an MFT Fishtail Banner Die, and added the rest of the sentiment in black card using M & C Boutique Alphabet Dies.

Flamingo sunset

Hello and welcome.

My card today uses another image from the June My Monthly Hero kit.

I don't know what it is about flamingos but they make me smile! When I saw this image in the kit I knew I wanted to make something with it.

I stamped, coloured and cut two flamingos.  To be honest these are my second attempt as I tried to watercolour the first ones and they did not turn out nicely at all!!

I masked a strip across the centre of my card panel and added a circle die cut with temporary adhesive.  I then blended a sunset using wild honey. fired brick and wilted violet distress oxide inks.

I glued my two flamingos to the panel and added a sentiment before adhering the whole piece to a standard size card base.

Stay wild

Hello and thank you for joining us.

This weekend I have been playing with the June My Monthly Hero kit, which has lots of jungle themed images.

I love this little monkey and had to make something with him.

I stamped, coloured and die cut the image along with a tree branch for him to sit on.

For the background I used the stencil from the kit and applied some wild honey distress oxide with a brush.

I used a square die to cut the background and added a yellow border.  I then glued the branch and monkey across the square panel.

To finish off I added a sentiment from the kit and attached the panel to a 4x4 card base.

Alcohol Ink Background

Good morning all, I hope you have had a great weekend and are having a good week so far. Today's card is one I made for mum's birthday last week.

I blended different shades of blue Alcohol Pearl Inks on to Yupo paper, and before it was completely dry, I pressed gold foil randomly over it, and just let it stick where it wanted.

I cut a panel of white card with an MFT Stitched Rectangle die to fit an A2 card base, and then I used a large circle die to cut a window in the front.

I placed my Yupo paper behind the aperture and then cut a few leaves and berry stems from plain white card, using M & C Boutiques dies.

I arranged the stems behind the window and then glued them into place before snipping off the ends. I also added a die-cut Mum sentiment using a Cut and Make die and the same white card.

Then I heat embossed a simple Happy Birthday Sentiment with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder, and added this to the front using foam tape, before I added it all to a plain blue note card.

Arts and Crafts Cards

Good morning crafty friends, I hope you have had a great weekend. We haven't been up to much this weekend, but we have a busy couple of weeks ahead with birthdays lol.

Today's cards are a couple that I made from the Hero Arts, My Monthly Hero Kit, for May 2019. It features lots of different crafty images, sentiments and coordinating dies, and while I was making the yellow version for my granddaughter's 7th birthday last week, I decided to make another version and keep it for later on in the year for my niece.

I arranged the different stamps around one of the sentiments using the Misti stamping tool. Then I stamped them with Onyx Black Versafine Ink, and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

I coloured the images with Copic markers, and then cut the panels to fit A2 size cards by using an Avery Elle Wonky Stitched Ellements die for the yellow version and an MFT Stitched Rectangle die for the red one.

Then I added one to a yellow note card and one to a red note card, and voila all finished. 

I really must do this more often, make more than one card at once, as it really doesn't take that much longer once you have the idea and set-up.

Always be yourself

Hello again.

Today's card is another made for Izzy's 7th birthday last week.

For this underwater scene I combined two sets from Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts.

For the background I blended stormy sky and tumbled glass distress oxides on to smooth white card. I then used stormy sky to stamp the background silhouettes.

I used Copic markers to colour the mermaid, added loads of Nuvo aqua shimmer pen, then fussy cut her leaving a thin white border.

The rocks and foliage were stamped using a selection of Wendy Vecchi blendable dye inks.  These stamped really well over the distress ink.

I cut my panel down and added it to a white card base.  I used a simple sentiment and then inside stamped, "Always be yourself, unless you can be a mermaid."

Green silhouette

Hello again.

My cards for the next few days will all be made using my current favourite stamp set - Dainty Bouquet by Altenew.

This is a gorgeous delicate flower set which can be layered to create realistic blossoms, or stamped in one colour for a silhouette effect.

For this card I stamped the largest of the images using parrot ink from Altenew. I then inked a piece of white card with this ink to create a matted layer for the sentiment.

The sentiment, from Hero Arts, was stamped in the same ink and die cut with a stitched circle die.

I cut the long edges to make the panel narrower and added the piece to a green card base.

Dandelion wishes

Hello and welcome.

I hope our UK friends had a good bank holiday yesterday, and our US friends had an enjoyable memorial weekend.

Today's card is for a very special little girl (my great niece!) who celebrates her seventh birthday today.  Happy birthday Izzy Lou!

For this card I started with the Hero Arts starry sky background stamp in Altenew dusk ink. I created my panel and added a strip of grass along the bottom using an MFT die.

I stamped, coloured and die cut the mouse and mushroom images from Hero Arts December 2018 My Monthly Hero kit, then added them using foam squares.

I used a sentiment from the same set and cut this with a flag banner die, before adhering the whole piece to a standard white card base.

The swing

Hello. 

I'm back with another card made for my son-in-law's birthday last week.

For this I used a Hero Arts background die cut from black card stock.

I ink blended the background using distress oxides, directly on to a standard white card base.

I heat embossed the sentiment on some more black card and added this with foam tape.

I decided not to add any further embellishments as I don't think the card needs anything.

Circles and rings

Hello again.

Today's card was made for my son-in-law's birthday last week. This one was from my youngest son, Joe.

I collected together a few stamp sets which all had circular images.  I used sets from Simon Says Stamp, Uniko, and Hero Arts.

I stamped each image on to a piece of white card using different colours of Distress Oxide.

Once I had covered the card I trimmed it down and attached to a card base made from a co-ordinating colour.  This one is Simon's Audrey blue.

I cut the numbers from another piece of the same card using Papermania carnival numbers, and attached them using foam pads.

I then added some Nuvo shimmer pen over the top.

The finishing touch was the sentiment heat embossed with Nuvo glacier white and some caribbean ocean crystal drops.

Welcome Little One

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week so far. Today's card is another of the ones I made to welcome baby Willow last week.

I started with the background and used the Hero Arts Star Light Star Bright Bold Prints Background Stamp. I stamped this with Simon Says Stamp Embossing Ink and then heat embossed it with Wow Metalline First Frost Embossing Powder.

I cut the panel to size with an MFT Stitched Rectangle die and then used a Paper Smooches Rainbow die to cut a rainbow from a piece of Alcohol Pearl Inked Yupo Paper. I also cut the Heart Border die from Simon Says Stamp out of the same piece of inked Yupo paper.

The little clouds are from a Lawn Fawn set called Hello Sunshine, I cut these three times each and sandwiched them around my rainbow so that I could raise the rainbow with foam tape.

The little Giraffe is from the MFT Stamp set called Wild Things, which is an oldie but goodie set, especially for cute cards. I coloured this with Copic Markers and added it to my card along with a sentiment from a Creative Stamping magazine set.
