On the record

Well it's the end of August already!

If things have gone to plan we should have left South Island to head for Wellington by now.  I'm sure Jen will be keeping you informed.

I wanted a few quick cards when I was making them for Alan's birthday.
As I love to use a repeat image to make a full background, I thought it would be perfect for my needs here.
This type of card is one of the easiest to make and just requires the addition of a single sentiment.

I used the record stamp from a set attached to a Creative Stamping magazine from May or June this year.  I thought it would make a good background, especially using toning shades of ink.

These are all Memento inks.  I used Nautical Blue, Bahama Blue and Teal Zeal.

The sentiment is also from a Creative Stamping set.

Hope you like it.

Blue ink flowers

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week. Today's card is one I made for a lovely friend of mine who celebrated her birthday on Monday.

But, being a terrible friend with a shocking memory, I forgot to post it 😳, but I'm sure she will appreciate it when it does finally get there!!!!

I used the Beautiful Day stamp set by Altenew, together with their crisp dye inks from the Glacier Caves set.

I wanted it to look a bit like an ink drawing, so I stuck to blues and masked and layered my flowers and leaves, using the matching die set. Then I added a simple sentiment, and backed the panel with dark blue card before putting it on a pale blue card blank.

I love how this card turned out. I hope you do too.

Take care and I'll see you soon.

Skipping

Hello everyone and thank you for joining us.

This card is another made for Keira's birthday.

I kept this one quite simple by using a ready made image.  This is from a Lili of the Valley Art Pad called For the Girls.  I think these are discontinued, but I love the 5 packs of different images we have.

I cut the image with a fluted edge die and matted it with navy blue card.  I did the same to the sentiment strip and to the paper used for the background.

Once these were all made I simply layered them together on a white card base.

To fill a little of the white space I stamped some hearts using the same Dusk ink used for the sentiment.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

Nothing is better than a true friend

Good morning all, and happy Bank Holiday Monday, (if you are in the UK). Anything that gets us a Monday off of work is a good day in my book lol.

Today's card is one I made for mum to give her friend for her birthday last week. I used the Spring Daisy set from Altenew and stamped them with the Warm and Cosy Crisp Dye inks.

I then added extra definition with a very fine brush and the Coffee Break ink set, and finished the flowers off with a very healthy covering of Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter pen.

The wooden background paper is from a Simon Says Stamp kit and the sentiment is from the Altenew Fresh Freesia set, heat embossed with SSS Fine Detail White Embossing powder.

I added another sentiment from the Fresh Freesia set on an inner liner, and then finished the card with a few clear Dew Drops.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Classic sounds

Today Jen's husband celebrates his 63rd birthday.  Happy birthday Alan!

This is a card I made for him from my brother.

The stamp set came from Creative Stamping magazine.  I loved the old fashioned gramophone image and decided to make it the focal point of my card.

I used a dark blue ink called Dusk from Altenew, to stamp on to a light blue card. I love this combination.

The sentiment is from a set by Clearly Besotted, called simply Happy Birthday.

I backed the panel with some navy card with a slight gold shimmer, which highlights the inking very well.

Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx

You Rock

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week. We have had a great couple of weeks with our grandsons here, but today they are off home, so they can go camping for the weekend with their mum 😘. It's been so lovely having them here and we will miss them terribly, but I know they are going to have a great last week of the holidays and then back to school, with the eldest starting high school 😲.

Anyway, today's card is another that I made for mum's friend from her line dancing groups, this time I went with a musical theme.

I used my Silhouette Studio software, and found a guitar image that I altered to fit a 5 x 5 square and changed it to solid black so I could print it with the laser printer.

Then I used Silver Decofoil and ran the image through the Minc Machine. I also printed a plain laser sheet so that I could foil it and cut a few sentiments. This one is a Britannia Happy Birthday die.

The guitar and second sentiment are stamps from a Creative Stamping magazine, which I stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then cut out the guitar by hand.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Herd of Unicorns

 Good morning again.

This card was made for Keira's 6th birthday last weekend.  I wanted a magical looking background for a fairy tale creature, sitting amongst the clouds.

This idea worked so well it sparked another idea for using inked backgrounds and clouds which you can see in the other versions.

I stamped several of the Unicorns from Lawn Fawn's Critters Ever After, and coloured them all slightly differently.

I then cut several sentiment dies and layered them to achieve a bit of dimension.

For the first one I used various shimmer sprays over an embossed background.  The background was then coloured with Distress Oxide ink in Worn Lipstick.

For the other backgrounds I made a stencil using an MFT sunburst die.

I taped these over my panels and sprayed shimmer spray through the apertures.  As this dries it gives a lovely effect on the card, and the colours change depending on the card you start with.  All of these use the same sparkle coloured shimmer spritz.

I managed to get a picture that really shows off the shimmer well.

To add to the shine I used a few matching sequins.

For the other cards I made two baby cards and another birthday version.

Hope you like them.  TTFN Jude xx

Cheeky Monkey

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good start to your week. Today's card is one I made for my great niece who was 6 on Saturday.

I used the MFT stamps set called Cheeky Monkey for the images and then coloured them with Copic markers.

The name is stamped using the Concord and 9th Sophisticated Script stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I cut the number from a scrap of brown card using the MFT Starlight number dies, and then added it to an orange card blank to finish.

Hope you like it. Take care and I'll see you soon.

Birthday ballerina

Hello all.  Being away means I missed my granddaughter Keira's birthday on Saturday.  We had a celebration before I left but it's not quite the same.

The card I made for her uses the sweet little ballerina hippo from Clearly Besotted.  The set is called Trouble in a Tutu, and although she doesn't dance, this suits Keira to a tee!

I multi-cut loads of clouds using the Mama Elephant border trio set, then layered these on to a dark blue card stock.  It's good this didn't have to be posted as it weighs a lot!!

I used a simple sentiment in a banner, then added another from the set, beside the image.

To finish off I used gold Liquid Pearls to add lots of dimensional drops on the clouds, before adhering the panel to a black card base.

I think this looks like she is dancing through the clouds, and love how fun it is.

Colourful Cowgirl

Good morning all, I hope you have had a good week. We have had a lovely week with our grandsons here, and are looking forward to a day out with more of the family tomorrow.

Today's card is one I made for mums friend who had her birthday this week. She teaches line dancing classes, so mum asked for a couple of cards for the class members to sign and this is one of them.

I used my Silhouette Studio software for the main design, taking the cowgirl image from a cut file and adapting it so I could print it. I then added text around it and printed it with the laser printer.

I used the Rainbow Decofoil over the print and ran it through my Minc machine before cutting it out with a large scalloped circle die.

I found the paper in a Simon Says Stamp kit, which just worked really well with the image, and then added some embroidery twine with a cowboy boot charm, a little tassel and some initial beads. This can be removed from the card to use on a keyring.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.
