Polar Pals

Hello again.

I saw this lovely idea on Pinterest a while ago and wanted to make my own version.

I used the Polar Pals set from Avery Elle for the images.  I combined these with Stitched Mountain dies from Lawn Fawn and stitched border trio from Mama Elephant, to create my scene.

I started by creating the sky using Distress Oxide inks in Black Soot, Blueprint Sketch and Broken China, with added silver shimmer spritz.

Once I had coloured the penguin and die cut all the other elements, it took very little time to put everything together.  

As you can see I made four similar cards using this idea.  I just placed the critters and Hero Arts' sentiment in slightly different places for each card.

Among the trees

Hello and welcome.

Today I have a single Christmas card to share with you.

When I saw this stunning blue glimmer paper in the Tonic Craft kit recently, I immediately thought of this idea.  However it has taken me a while to actually get around to doing it!

I started by inking a background scene using distress oxides in Tumbled Glass and Iced Spruce.  I used both colours for the wintry sky but just the blue for the snow banks.

The silhouette of trees and the deer came from some magazine freebies and I think they work wonderfully.  I wanted the images dark but not black so I stamped both using Versafine majestic blue, then using a second impression Versafine onyx black over the top.  I then blended a little more distress oxide ink over the trees to make them seem more distant.

The frame came from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit from May.  I cut this from the blue shimmer card and then removed the swing that was originally in the middle.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out.  Hope you like it too.

Cake! Yum!

Welcome! I hope you're enjoying some nice weather.  Locally it has been between 24 and 29 centigrade for the past couple of weeks and NO rain.  This is VERY unusual for us.

I think the heat has sapped all my crafting mojo as I hadn't made anything in over a week until Sunday.  I sat looking at loads of stamp sets until something grabbed me.  In this case it was the small sentiment.

When I saw this I immediately thought of Trouble in a Tutu by Clearly Besotted.  Why? No idea :)

I stamped one of the images on top of a cake from a Creative Stamping magazine set from last year.

I inked my background with Seedless Preserves and added silver shimmer.  I then cut a circle in a piece of pink card  that was large enough for the sentiment and added a greeting from Simon Says Stamps Best Ever stamp set.  I placed the circle down and marked where I could stamp before layering the pieces together.

I cut and coloured the hippo and cake, then added them with foam squares.  I decided to add some hearts in the background, again stamped with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide.  I think this, and some shimmer on the cake, finished the card nicely.  What do you think?

Silhouette sky

Happy Wednesday folks.  Hope you're having a good week.

Today's card features the May 2018 card kit from Hero Arts.  I love how they have started adding larger dies to these kits and I just had to use this one first when I opened the packet.

I cut a piece of black card with the stitched wonky rectangle die from MFT then placed the silhouette die in the centre.  This cut really well even on the 300gsm card I used!

The sky was created using distress oxide inks directly on to the card base.  I blended Broken China, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans very lightly on to the white card and splashed some shimmer spritz over the top.  I dabbed the excess with paper towel to get the mottled effect.

The butterfly was added after I had assembled the card and I used my MISTI to make sure it stamped a solid black.

The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts kit and is white embossed on another piece of the black card.  I added this on a foam strip.

I can see me using the silhouette designs in this month's kit quite frequently.  Hope you like them as much as I do.

You're out of this world

Good morning all, I hope you have all had a good weekend. Ours has been busy again, but I am happy to say that Jude and John are safely back from New Zealand. They have had a fabulous time, even though Jude can't stay awake long enough to tell us anything about it 😉 Lol.

Today's card was once again inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest. I used Distress Oxide Inks for the background, including; Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserve, Salty Ocean, Worn Lipstick and Black Soot.

I blended them all together until I was happy with a night sky effect, then I spritzed the panel from above with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Silver, Frost and Sparkle, followed by a few heavy drops of White Wink of Stella Glitter pen.

For the moons I used the Altenew To the Moon stamp set, along with Altenew Crisp Dye inks from the Coffee Break, Warm and Cosy, and Rock Collections.

Then I cut them out with different sized punches and added them to the panel, raising some on foam pads.

I stamped one of the sentiments that comes with the set on to black card using Versamark ink, and then heat embossed it with white Fine Detail embossing powder.

Then I added it to a black card blank to finish.

Herd of Unicorns

 Good morning again.

This card was made for Keira's 6th birthday last weekend.  I wanted a magical looking background for a fairy tale creature, sitting amongst the clouds.

This idea worked so well it sparked another idea for using inked backgrounds and clouds which you can see in the other versions.

I stamped several of the Unicorns from Lawn Fawn's Critters Ever After, and coloured them all slightly differently.

I then cut several sentiment dies and layered them to achieve a bit of dimension.

For the first one I used various shimmer sprays over an embossed background.  The background was then coloured with Distress Oxide ink in Worn Lipstick.

For the other backgrounds I made a stencil using an MFT sunburst die.

I taped these over my panels and sprayed shimmer spray through the apertures.  As this dries it gives a lovely effect on the card, and the colours change depending on the card you start with.  All of these use the same sparkle coloured shimmer spritz.

I managed to get a picture that really shows off the shimmer well.

To add to the shine I used a few matching sequins.

For the other cards I made two baby cards and another birthday version.

Summer sun

Hello and welcome.  Judy here with a really quick card that is perfect for sending a greeting for no particular reason.

I used a piece of paper from the Simon Says Stamp June kit cut with a stitched rectangle die.

I stamped the sentiment and birds from the set, which I think gives a lovely summery feel to the card.

I used a light spray of shimmer mist over the top, which you can just pick up on camera.  I added the panel to a pale pink card blank.

Like I said, a quick and summery note card.

Underwater

Welcome to my watery Wednesday offering.

I made a fabulous background using Distress Oxides and decided it looked like the sea, so needed sea creatures in it.  The colours I used are Faded Jeans, Broken China and Cracked Pistachio.

Funnily enough we don't have any fish stamps (this will be rectified 😉) but a recent magazine freebie included a few ocean elements I could use.

The coral, leaves and starfish were stamped directly on to the inky background, which I sprayed with sparkle shimmer spritz.

I tried the seahorse as a flat element but it didn't stand out enough.  I stamped and coloured it separately, coated it with Spectrum Noir shimmer pen and cut it out by hand, before adding with foam squares.

The sentiment was black heat embossed onto  white card and cut with a stitched rectangle die.

Organic Blooms

Good morning folks, sorry for the late posting today. But other things have been wiping me out just lately and I just didn't have the energy last night to write this lol.

Anyway it's a very short post today as I have used this technique before, colouring with Spectrum Noir pencils on to black card after white heat embossing an image.

This image is from Mama Elephant and is called Organic Blooms.

Then I used Silver and White Shimmer Sprays over the top.

And a sentiment from the same set.

Right we are off to walk the dogs and then to the cemetery to wish dad a happy 69th birthday. At least for a change the sun is shining :)

Pencil Coloured Dahlias

Good morning all, I hope you have had a good weekend. Did you get much time to be crafty? I managed to squeeze in a couple of cards this weekend, this is one of them.

I stamped the WPlus9 Beautiful Bouquets - Dahlias stamp on to black card using Versamark ink. Then heat embossed it with fine detail white embossing powder. 

Then I used Spectrum Noir coloured pencils to colour it. I have wanted to try this technique for ages but never got around to it, and I am really happy with the results. The pencils give a lovely soft effect on the black card, but also really stand out.

I wanted to add a bit more interest to the background so added a few sprays of Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz, by Imagine Crafts. 

This gives a lovely fine spray, but I wanted something a little bit heavier. So I sprayed some on to my glass mat, then flicked it over the background using a water brush, to give me the heavier drops.

The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant - Organic Blooms set. I stamped it with Grape Jelly Memento ink, and then raised the strip on foam tape across the bottom of my card.
