Colourful Cowgirl

Good morning all, I hope you have had a good week. We have had a lovely week with our grandsons here, and are looking forward to a day out with more of the family tomorrow.

Today's card is one I made for mums friend who had her birthday this week. She teaches line dancing classes, so mum asked for a couple of cards for the class members to sign and this is one of them.

I used my Silhouette Studio software for the main design, taking the cowgirl image from a cut file and adapting it so I could print it. I then added text around it and printed it with the laser printer.

I used the Rainbow Decofoil over the print and ran it through my Minc machine before cutting it out with a large scalloped circle die.

I found the paper in a Simon Says Stamp kit, which just worked really well with the image, and then added some embroidery twine with a cowboy boot charm, a little tassel and some initial beads. This can be removed from the card to use on a keyring.

My Faux Dori

Good morning all, something a little bit different from me today. I have been ogling faux Dori notebooks on Pinterest, Instagram and Etsy for a while now, but they are quite expensive. So I decided to have a go and make one myself. 

If you are familiar with the Midori Traveller's Notebook, then this is the same sort of thing but obviously made with much cheaper materials. 

I had some dark grey vinyl left over from re-covering kitchen chairs a few years ago, and never knew what to do with it. But it has come in handy for this. I took my measurements from some of the videos on Youtube showing how to make these. 

I cut the vinyl with a craft knife and then added a piece of fabric paper to the back of it and cut to size. The fabric paper was self adhesive so I didn't have to worry about what adhesive to use. 

Then I used my Big Bite Cropadile to make the holes in the spine, and set red eyelets in to them. I played around for a while with what elastic to use to hold the inserts in, but eventually decided to use jewellery elastic. As this is quite fine but very strong, and it's also clear so isn't obtrusive on the inside. 

I put together 3 notebooks for the inside, just using card and 3 different sorts of paper. I used plain white paper, plain cream paper and then bleedproof paper for the last booklet. 

I stapled these together with a long reach stapler, but next time I think I will stitch them as it will probably look better. Then I slipped them inside the elastic that I had threaded through the holes in the spine to hold them in place. 

I wanted to make a bookmark/page finder, so I used a piece of cotton cord and some jewellery findings. Then I added a little charm to the end of it. I tied the cord through the top two holes on the spine to secure it. 

I am going to make some more of these as gifts for people, and next time I will add more page markers. 

I used a large rubber band for the main closure strap as it's what I had, but next time I will get some elastic cord instead. 

Then I added a camera charm and my name in beads to the strap to decorate the front. 

I love how it turned out and I'm using it already. Hope you like it too.

Just married

Good morning folks, it's the weekend at last lol. This week has seemed to go on forever, and I'm really hoping for some crafty time this weekend. 

This is the last of the wedding cards I made for my son and daughter in law. 

The car was stamped from a free stamp set that Jude got recently on a craft magazine. I stamped it twice, then cut it out and coloured them both with Copic markers. When I put the card together I put one car over the other raised on foam tape.

I covered the windows with Glossy Accents to give them a bit of shine. 

The papers are from a Lili of the Valley paper pad called Winter Wishes.

I wrote the sentiments on the computer and then printed them on card stock and cut them out with tag dies. 

I used antique lace, blue ribbon, a blue tassel that's been in the craft stash forever! and a little heart brad to attach it. 

Then I cut up some pearl trim and used the single pearls on the ribbon and on the car. Then I added a couple of little resin flowers to the bottom corner. 

Then all it needed was a double bow, some silver twine tied in a bow and a little Love charm.

Heidi with sledge

Good morning all and happy Sunday, hope you are all having a good weekend.

Today's card is made using a new rubber stamp from Whimsy called Heidi with sledge.

I coloured it with Copics and then cut it out with a Spellbinders Decagon die. 

The backing card is Hunkydory I think, I'm not sure as it's been in the stash forever lol. I used the Noor snowflake die at the top and a Marianne Die for the Santa sleigh and reindeer.

I found some icy blue ribbon in the stash and put this across the card then added a blue stripey ribbon bow and a snowflake charm. 

The corner die and stamps are more Marianne ones and I thought the words were perfect for this scene.

I finished it off with some Stickles glitter glue on the image and the Santa sleigh.

Mamma

Good morning all, today's card is one I made for my son and his girlfriend to send to Mum on her birthday last week.

I used a Magnolia Tilda stamp that I haven't used before. She is so cute lol.

I coloured her with Promarkers and then cut her out by hand.

The papers are from an old pad, I think called dreamcatcher. I layered them all with pink and purple Coredinations card.

I added a lilac ribbon and little tree charm, and then finished it off with some tiny stickers to spell Mamma. (Which is what my kids have always called Mum).

Mum

Good morning all and welcome to another Tuesday, they don't half come round quick lol, and it's April already. Wow. 

Well today I can share with you the card I made for Mum for Mother's day on Sunday. It is very simple, but I liked it and more importantly so did Mum.

I die cut a heart out of white hammered card and then dug out some ribbon roses that we picked up in The Range a while back.

I spaced them out around the edge of the card and then used my trusty Cosmic Shimmer glue to stick them down.

I used a 6x6 card blank for the base and some pretty blue spotty paper from the stash as a background.

Then I added the heart and a little Mum word. To finish it off I tied a little elephant charm around the word. 

I finally got around to buying some boxes for 6x6 cards, so I popped it in one of those to give to mum.
