More Trees

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope the sun is shining for you.

Jen posted yesterday so you've got me again today with a card using an IndigoBlu stamp - Bare Trees (another favourite) - over an inked background.

I started with a piece of cream card stock and blended two distress inks to create slightly different shades of green for the landscape. I then punched a circle from scrap card to use as a stencil to place a wintery sun low in the sky. I inked through the aperture very lightly with brushed corduroy DI.

The trees were stamped several times with a black stazon - I was not worrying about over stamping as I intended them to be tangled.

A quickie glue pen and dark silver glitter add an iced effect to the trees to complete our winter scene.

I love how simple this is but it is so effective. This type of card could be used on any occasion which is why I haven't added a sentiment.

I'll be back with something new on Tuesday so TTFN Jude x

Doggy card...

Good morning all and happy Saturday. Jen back again today. This week has just flown past, can't believe it's a week since my grand boys came to stay and now they're going home today :-( but it won't be long before we get to see them again, and no doubt there will be plenty of phone calls to keep me going in the meantime :-).

Anyway on with today's card, you may remember I've used this stamp before, but I love it, it's just a silly stamp that is basically suitable for anyone. This time was for a male birthday card, but the last time I used it, it was for a female card.

I started with the stamp which I stamped with Memento Cocoa Brown ink, and coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. Next I ran a couple of pieces of Core-dinations card through the Ebosser using a Grand Dots embossing folder.

I cut the brown piece of card to size and die cut an aperture in to it for the stamped image to sit behind. I gave it a quick sand to reveal the Kraft core and then teamed the card with some co-ordinating papers. These ones are from the Hot Diggity collection.

I layered these on to a 6x6 blank scalloped card base and then added some chocolate brown ribbon to one side in a little bow.

Then I added the ready made sentiment in the top right hand corner to finish it off.

What do you think? hope you like it too.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon.

The Far Away Tree

Good Morning - yes it's Jude again. I know two days together - practically unheard of ;-)

This morning I am off to Sheffield Children's Hospital for my son's pre-op assessment.  We could be there all day so a few crafty mags have made it in to my bag.  Well I've got to have something to stave off the boredom, and it may help with the missing mojo!

Those of you of a certain age probably remember a book called The Folk of the Far Away Tree. I know in the mid seventies it was one of my favourites, but then as a child I read a lot of Enid Blyton. And I do mean a LOT!!

Recently I was browsing through some magazines and websites, and found several tree based cards which made me think of that children's book - so this is my take on how it might have looked.

I stamped random flower and leaf shapes on to card and cut out a rough tree canopy which i applied to an 8x8 card blank. I then restamped the images, cut them out and decoupaged them onto the tree shape.

I added various buttons and embellishments from my stash. I'm not fond of how the tree trunk turned out but I'll do it differently next time I try something like this.

The birds, bees and fox all came from magazine freebies but the wild flowers are a Barbara Gray Clarity stamp. I coloured these with pro and flex markers.

Hope you like the idea as much as I do. TTFN Jude x

Embossing folders

Morning all Jude again. I've been a little slack in the blogging department of late so need to make up for it. I can only blame a lack of mojo for my unwillingness to get in the cave to play. It also needs a tidy up which may be discouraging me from being in there.

Today's card came from an idea I saw on Pinterest originally pinned by Kraftikat called white on white. Mine isn't an exact copy as I wanted more colour.

The background is a floral circles embossing folder and the smaller tiles are butterfly garden (I think!). I cut three tiles layering two on a turquoise mat and one on gold.

The embossing is highlighted with peacock feather distress ink. The same ink was used to stamp the sentiment which was then cut with a spellbinder tag die.

The rosette is made with the same card as used for the mats with a circle cut from the butterfly embossed card.

A simple card with lots of textured detail. Hope you like it.

On your birthday.....

Good morning all, hope you are all well and having a good week. I'm feeling a little under the weather just now :-( a niggly cold and a really sore throat - boo hoo ;-) we could really do with some sunshine soon.

Just a quick post today to share a little card I've just finished. This one is back in my comfort zone. Cute and pretty lol.

I started with the image which I stamped with Memento London Fog ink and coloured in with Promarkers. I then cut it out leaving a small border. I backed it with the largest size of the opulent oval dies cut in to some green checked Me to You paper. I cut a frame using the largest two dies in the set in white card and stuck it over the top.

I used a white 6x6 card blank and layered it with more Me to You papers and some yellow card. I used a lace border die down the right side and added some green spotty ribbon down the left. I also added more of the ribbon in the top right corner and tied a little bow.

Once I had placed the topper I then added some different flowers and leaves in complimentary colours. Some I rolled from die cuts and the others were ready made. I finished the card with some pearls and a couple of little sentiments.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by. See you soon.

Birthday Cards....

Good morning all, Jen back again today. Hope you have all enjoyed the long Easter weekend. It's been family time for us :o)) with a birthday party for my Nephew Joe on Sunday and our grandsons are over for the week, it's been lovely.

Today I thought I'd share one of the cards I made for Joe with you. As most people know, Joe is very special to us, but a card for any other 19 year old isn't always appropriate for Joe, so sometimes knowing what to make can be difficult!

Which is where the thoughts for this first card started from...

I went with a puzzle theme, and started by covering the card blank with completed Sudoku puzzles from an old book.

Next I found all different letters from my stash to make up the phrase "Deciding on a present can be a puzzle!?" and stuck this to the middle of the card on a die cut shape.

I bought some Scrabble tiles online a few weeks ago and they came in really handy for this card. I just used them to spell out 'Ha*py Day'.

To be honest you couldn't really use any more than this on a card as they are quite heavy. But this is because they are the original wooden tiles and not the lighter weight plastic ones !

I added his name and age too, and finished the phrase inside with " but sending it with lots of love is always easy".

Hope you like it.

That's all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by.
See you soon.

Melt Pot playtime...

Good morning all, happy April Fool's day. No tricks from me, just quite a long post, so you might want to get a cuppa!

Yes I've been having a little play with my melt pot :o)) I'm not totally up to speed with all that it can do as yet but I'm teaching myself, just like always lol. But I am totally addicted already!

I've been playing with colours to see what looks nice and what's not so good! I have a tub of clear UTEE and a few little pots of Cosmic Shimmer in different colours.

If you haven't used one yet it really is as simple as pouring the crystals in and watching them melt lol.

I've been digging through some old baking supplies looking for moulds and cutters to try with it. And I also picked up a couple in a discount store.

The silicone moulds are great, but as long as you use some sort of lubricant to help the shapes release inside the metal cutters, they work fine too. I'm just using an old versamark pad that my cats pinched from my desk and broke the lid to!

And these shapes must now be kept for craft use only! I promise I won't be popping them back in the kitchen to use for baking haha!

I've tried a few different shapes to see what works and how big you can go really. But for me the smaller sizes work best, but not too tiny lol.

This is one of my favourite moulds at the minute some little buttons. I can see these being used quite a bit on future cards.

And here's what they look like finished.

Just a bit cute lol. As you can see I've tried green, clear and purple so far.

The green was totally by accident. I had mixed a couple of different shades of blue with some clear, and it gave me a lovely teal colour, but the next time I heated it up it went green!

I forgot to take any pics of the teal colour lol, but I don't mind the green. What do you think to the little cameo's?

The hearts work really well and I can see an order for black and red embossing crystals being placed in the very near future ;-)

To finish with, a little bird and flower and then this cute little pendant that I made. Hope you like them.

If you have been toying with the idea of getting a Melt Pot, I do recommend it, but then again I do love new toys lol.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon.
