Happy birthday Joe

Morning all.  Can you believe it's the end of March already?  I can't believe that today my baby boy is 20!!
If I'd known then what I know now, life may have been very different.

Joe contracted meningococcal septicaemia aged 13 months, and for a while we believed we may lose him.  Fortunately he pulled through but the resulting brain damage left him with profound and multiple learning difficulties, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.  It has been a hard road for us all but now he is an independent young man, with lots of devoted carers, an active social life and is surrounded by people who adore him.  What more could I ask?

I wanted a special card for him and whilst browsing Pinterest (as usual) I found just the perfect verse (bar a few words I altered, lol), so I made this the focal point of my card.

I used some ready made tagged letters to spell out his name, then added 3 layered red hearts for some colour and dimension.

The verse was typed up and printed using my computer, then I layered it very simply on black and white card.

I love it and hope you do too.  TTFN Jude xx

Happy Mothers Day

Good morning everyone, hope you are all having a lovely weekend. For those of us in the UK today is Mother's day, I think it is celebrated on different days elsewhere.

So today we are all off out for a family meal, which means none of us mummies have to cook lol. So mummies, mums, moms, nans, nannies, grandma's, step moms, foster mums and all other mummy folk out there. Happy Mother's Day. I hope you all have a lovely day.

I can't share the card that I have made for my Mum yet as she hasn't seen it, and I know she always logs on to the blog first thing in the morning. So I don't want her to see it here first lol.

So today's card is another that I have made for a special young man who is 20 tomorrow.

I used a Kraft card blank and blue Coredinations card for the base. Then I cut another piece of Kraft card to size and used a Spellbinders Labels Four to cut the aperture.

I stamped the image from a Camden Town set using blue pigment ink, and then heat set it with clear embossing powder.

I raised the image on two layers of sticky foam so that it really stood out.

To finish I used my little Kraft stickers to write the sentiment.

Hope you like it, see you soon.

Take care

OMG 20!!

Saturday at last!  That also means I've one day left to make Joe's birthday cards!!  We are having a joint party for his birthday and Mother's Day.

This is the first of his cards.

The colours were determined by the scraps in my box lol.  I'm still trying to use some up.

I started with a 6 x 6 kraft blank adding papers and ribbon as the base layers.  My trusty star dies were used to create an embellishment, which I then ran through the sewing machine.  Now this is the first time I've done this so I'm quite pleased (even if the lines are wonky lol)

My favourite sentiment stamp was called into service again.

That's all for today.  TTFN Jude xx

Hello

Good morning all, hope you are well today and as glad as I am that it's finally Friday lol.

Today's card is using more strips of coloured card , but using them slightly differently gives a whole different look, I think.

I also got to play with one of our new dies :o)) this one is part of a Hello die set from Paper Smooches.
I cut the word three times and stuck them all together to give it a bit of depth and I think it works really well.

The card pieces are all Coredinations card and most of them were from my scrap pile, then I just needed a couple of new pieces for the larger squares.

Another card that I think will do perfectly for a young man.

Hope you like it, see you soon.

Take care

Owl always love you

Hello again! Jude here with another card made using a Saturated Canary image.
The background paper is from the Curiosity Corner collection by Docrafts, that Jen used recently.  It has a lovely mix of colours in the papers.

Isn't she a sweetie?  I did a better job on her hair than my previous attempt, but still can't quite get the skin right.  On this version I've also stuck to a limited palette, as I'm guilty of using too many colours some times.

I layered the paper on to a 6 x 6 card blank.  As I didn't have a large enough piece of green card that matched my circle and corners I just ran a Promarker down the edges and put the paper on top.

I used a Tonic border punch for the butterfly background strip, and Spellbinders Gold Corners One; well for the corners lol!

Once I had all the pieces in place a few gems finished it off nicely.

Hope you like her.  TTFN Jude xx

Coloured card

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week.

Today's card came from an idea on an American blog that I follow called The Daily Marker. The lady who runs it, Kathy, is super talented and comes up with some great ideas.

Seen as how I need some cards for a very special young mans birthday next week. I thought I would give this idea a go.

I used lots of strips of Coredinations card in different colours, and laid them on to another piece at an angle. Then I used the guillotine to crop the edges.

I stuck this piece to a 6x6 kraft card blank and then used a number die to add the age.

I wasn't sure where to go next with it as I wanted to add a sentiment but wasn't sure which one or whether to stamp one or die cut it. In the end I used one of my favourite stamps to stamp the sentiment at the bottom.

I finished it off with a couple of wooden embellishments and a Studio Calico wooden sentiment.

Very simple but quite effective. Hope you agree.

Thanks for calling by again. See you soon, take care.

Running Tilda

Hello bloggers, are you having a good week?

Jen and I have been playing with some Tilda Magnolia stamps she bought a few weeks ago.  She went a bit mad and bought 9 in a few days!! This one is Running Tilda.

After colouring I thought that she needed a bit more interest so I used the Cherry Blossom stamp from the last Get Stamping magazine with Distress Markers.  I think it worked really well.

The background paper is from the Fairy Belle collection.  The picket fence is a die Jen has had for ages but this is the first time I've used it.

I love this sentiment stamp!  It also came with the Get Stamping magazine.

That's all for me.  Speak soon!  TTFN Jude xx

Tilda Butterfly

Good Monday morning all, hope it's the start of a good week for you.

Today's card is using one of my new Tilda stamps. I have had them for about 4 weeks and this is the first time I have inked one!

She is called Tilda as Butterfly, isn't she sweet?

I watercoloured her with Distress Markers and cut her out with a Spellbinders Blossom die.  Then I inked around the shape with Tattered Rose Distress Ink

The papers are from the Kaiserkraft Sweet Pea collection. The lace we picked up at the last craft show we went to but don't know the name of the company lol.

The butterfly edge die cut is from our new Noor die and the flowers are from The Range, all inked with Tattered Rose Distress Ink too.

That's all today, see you soon, take care.

Smile

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

It has been raining non-stop here for the past few days so we haven't been very far.  It has given me some time to get in the craft room though, and this is what I've made.

The image is from Saturated Canary and is coloured with Flex markers.  I matched her to the colours of the Sweet Pea collection and inked the edge of the image with Dried Marigold distress ink.

The typeface letters are from the Madame Payraud set from Docrafts.

I matted and layered the papers on to some coredinations card stock, added some flowers, butterflies, dragonflies and a ribbon.

That's it for today.  TTFN Jude xx

A couple of bag charms and some earrings

Good morning all, great title isn't it? lol. Couldn't think of anything else so that's what we got today ha ha.

Anyway it does describe very well the content of today's post. I finally got around to making the earrings for Jude with the left over beads from when I made her the bracelets weeks ago! and I used up some odd beads to make a couple of pretty bag charms. One for me and one for Jude :o))

These are the earrings

My bag charm

and the one I made for Jude.

What do you think? hope you like them too.

Take care and I'll see you soon.

Water coloured girl

TGI Friday!  It's been a long week at work and I'm ready for the weekend.  That's when I get to spend some time 'playing' in the craft room.

Following Jen's water colour stamping success last week, I decided to have a try with another of our Crafty Individuals stamps.  She turned out quite well, didn't she?

Once I had the image I wanted to make her into a card.

Using an 'off the page' technique (where you cut parts of an image to extend outside the main shape)  I cut around the leaves on a Japanese style paper from a Bo Bunny set.  It was a bit fiddly but worked quite well.

I layered everything onto a 6 x 6 card blank and deliberately left space to add a sentiment.  I'll do this when I decide what the card will be used for lol.

Well that's all for today.  TTFN Jude xx
