Always be a mermaid!

Good morning folks, hope you are having a good week so far. Today's card is the only card I have made in 3 weeks!!! and that's only because Jude's latest copy of Creative Stamping magazine landed on the doormat last week, and it included this stamp set.

It's a nautical themed set this time, and it included this lovely mermaid image and sentiment. It's a good job it came when it did as I needed something to give me a kick up the rear, and get me back in to crafting lol. 

I used plain smooth white card and stamped the image with Versamark ink. Then I heat embossed it with Rainbow Sparkle embossing powder that came with a Simon Says Stamp kit last year.

The pics don't really do it justice as it really does sparkle with lots of different colours.

I wasn't sure what to put with it at first, but decided on the simple black sentiment and nothing else. Which for me is as close to CAS as I get lol.

I did decide to give it a bit of a frame though with black card and then made a Matt silver card blank for it to sit on.

Little Mermaid....

Good morning, and happy bank holiday Monday. Jen back again today, not bad is it? only 2nd week back at work and we have a holiday already! I could do with more like this lol. Nice long weekends should be made compulsory I think ha ha - if only....

 

Anyway on to today's card, and this one is definitely a cutie. I know it's another of the Bestie images, but I did warn you! once I like something there's no stopping lol.

 

 

I started with the image and coloured her with my Spectrum Noir's and Promarkers. Then I cut the image out with the largest of the Spellbinders Labels 29.

 

I found this beautiful aqua blue flowered paper in a little Webster's Pages 6x6 pad and I thought the colour was lovely with this image. I teamed this with some Core-dinations Card in a darker turquoise blue and layered them on to an 8x8 fancy card base.

 

I used an adhesive lace to go around the edge of the card and then placed the topper to the left side. Then I went around the edge of the topper with some blue sequins. They look really lovely when they catch the light and remind me a bit of water. So I thought they would fit right in on this card.

 

I used a couple of chipboard shapes for the top right and bottom left corners, and then embellished the rest of the card with some sea themed bits and pieces from my stash.

 

Then all it needed was a flat back pearl to sit in the shell with miss mermaid, a few turquoise gems here and there and a ready made sentiment to finish it off.
