Wedding flowers

Hello friends.  It's the last day of February and  I'm back with another wedding card.

This uses one of my favourite stamps Peony Bouquet from Altenew.  I used a new set of inks too.  These are Altenew's Rock Collection.

I stamped the three layers in the lightest three inks in the set then used two of the darkest for the leaves.

I also added a layer of Spectrum Noir Shimmer pen to the blossoms.

The sentiments are from a Simon Says Stamp card kit and the set is called Congratulations.  It contains some lovely wedding and engagement sentiments.

I stamped these with Versamark and heat embossed with Silver Shine from Cosmic Shimmer.

I like the simplicity of this card and hope you do too.

Birthday bouquet

Hello everyone.  Thank you for joining us again today.

I have a layered floral stamped card to share using one of my favourites.  This is the Peony Bouquet set from Altenew.

I stamped one large flower and two buds with four sets of leaves then layered them together. 

To get this beautiful pink-red I used three Altenew inks (Ruby Red, Coral Berry, Frosty Pink) from the Red Cosmos set.

The leaves are Forest Glades and Evergreen from the Green Fields set.

For the background I blended the same inks using an ink blending tool from Tim Holtz.  I find I can control the round head blender better than the oblong.

The sentiment comes from a Simon Says Stamp monthly card kit.  I only used part of the sentiment as the last words are thank you and I didn't want this part. The inside of the card says Happy Birthday instead.  I used gold embossing powder and then added some gold liquid pearl drops.

Just a note.......

In spite of the name of this blog, you never see any of the catastrophes (nor cakes - Jen?!) So today I thought I'd share a card that didn't quite turn out as I wanted.  It's not really a catastrophe but it's as close as you're likely to get from us.

The clear embossing in the background is too patchy, the stamped sentiment isn't dark enough and the flower should have been stamped on a pale pink card, not white.

You can just about make out the sentiment here, but it's too close a shade to the card I used.  If you look very closely you can see the peony stamped with a watermark pad and then clear embossed.  I'm not sure what I did wrong but it really hasn't worked very well.

The peony was stamped with Distress markers and I forget how subtle they can be.  Still it is quite a contrast when on the white card.

So there it is.  Not the best card I've ever made but I'm sure it won't be the worst either lol :)
