Love hearts

Happy St Valentine's Day!

According to Wikipaedia, St Valentine "is a widely recognized third-century Roman saint commemorated on February 14 and associated since the High Middle Ages with a tradition of courtly love.  All that is reliably known of the saint commemorated on February 14 is his name and that he was martyred and buried at a cemetery on the Via Flaminia close to the Milvian bridge to the north of Rome on that day."

We shouldn't need to be reminded to honour the people we love every single day, but some of us do have a tendency to forget, lol!  So today's card is made for all my fabulous family just to say I LOVE YOU, not just today but every day.  I can't imagine not having you all in my life.

The idea from this card came from Pinterest.  I've seen lots of variations of this and thought I would give it a try.  Unfortunately photographing white on white is not very easy with an iPhone!

I drew a heart shape on to white paper and then punched lots of flowers from another sheet.  I filled the shape with the flowers then shaped a few to give some dimension.

I added crystals to the centres and coloured just one of them red. I then matted the paper on to red card before adding it to a 7 x 7 card blank.

A very simple but effective card.  Hope you like it.

One year on

Good morning all, no card today folks, just a bit of my heart. It is one year today since we lost Dad. One minute it feels like forever and the next it feels like yesterday. I still miss him every minute of every day and still find myself wanting to tell him things or thinking Dad would like that!

BUT,  life does go on, not easily a lot of the time, but it does go on. I am a very lucky girl that I have a very supportive husband and am surrounded by a very loving family. We are there for each other when times are good and bad, and that means a lot.

I am incredibly proud of all my family with the way they have dealt with this huge loss, but most of all I am so in awe of my amazing Mum. She has coped incredibly well through a very trying eighteen months, with Dad's illness and then afterwards. She is amazingly strong while dealing with her own health issues, but is always there for everyone when they need her. I honestly do not know how this family would cope without her.

But I had better stop this now as she always reads the blog first thing in the morning and I will be getting a text very early telling me off for making her cry ;o)

We have had some good times lately too though, and one of the best was my son and daughter-in-law getting married on Wednesday. The day was absolutely brilliant and went really really well. They both looked gorgeous and are very happy. They are now on their way to Brazil on honeymoon for a couple of weeks, I bet it's beautiful.

I will just finish with I love you Mum and I hope you have a lovely weekend with your girlfriends, you deserve it.

On Your Wedding Day

Yesterday we celebrated the marriage of Jen's son Daniel and his beautiful bride, Staci.
The ceremony was at a gorgeous stately hall with stunning grounds, pictures of which will follow at the weekend.

One of the many cards we made for the happy couple was this one using You and Me by Tiddly Inks.
I love this image and think it is suitable for engagement or anniversary cards as well as weddings.

For this version I've used a peachy pink for the dress but I've tried it in several different shades, including grey.  Each time I think I can't like it any more, but I do!

The sentiment is from a Digi Stamp Boutique set I bought last week and the papers are from a Santoro paper pad called If Only....

I love to put something nice inside a card and this time I printed the sentiment on a liner page.

Staci and Daniel will only get to see their cards quickly today as they fly off to Brazil later this evening.  They are spending the first days of their honeymoon at the Rio carnival!!  Hopefully they will have a fantastic time.

That's it for today so I'll catch you again at the weekend.  TTFN Jude xx

Wedding Day

Good morning all, well the big day is here and my son and his fiance will walk down the aisle this afternoon :o))

It means I can finally show you the cards I have been making as they will be far too busy to bother looking at the old blog today lol.

Here is the card I made for Mum to send to them. It has special meaning as yellow was Dad's favourite colour, and it will be 1 year on Friday since we lost him.

Staci is having yellow roses in her bridal bouquet too, so I thought this card would be perfect from Mum.

I used the Sue Wilson Entwined Hearts embossing folder for the background, with navy blue card behind, on a 7 x 7 card blank.

I then used a wide dark navy blue ribbon and some white lace flower ribbon across the top and then alternated yellow and blue roses.

I used an X-Cut alphabet die to cut the initials and then a couple of stamps for the sentiment tag.

Hope they like it ;o)

Take care and I'll see you soon.

Puppy Love

Hello again.  Tuesday already and the start of a busy few days for us.  We'll share more of that over the next week or so.

Today's card is a little Valentine made with the Lawn Fawn set, Critters at the Dog Park.

I love these sweet little doggies and thought how lovely they would look on a simple card.

I stamped the background directly on to a 6 x 6 card blank.  The dogs were cut with the co-ordinating die after they were stamped and coloured.

I tried to add bones to the bowl but I need to get better at masking! Lol!

I added four hearts as balloons and stamped the sentiment underneath.

Hope you like it.

Bee mine?

Good morning all, hope you are well and looking forward to a good week. As we are in full wedding prep mode around here I'm trying to do a few quick cards until I can show some of the wedding ones lol.

So this card was made using scraps of paper and card that were on my desk. I stuck the strips on to a plain piece of card from my scraps box and then cut the heart using the Sizzix scalloped hearts on an angle.

Then I used my little Sizzix Bee die and cut it out using gold embossed card, and coloured in some black lines with an alcohol pen.

I couldn't find a sentiment I liked to match so I made my own with the Dymo  label maker.

I used a 6 x 6 card blank and raised the heart on foam strips.

A really simple but cute valentines card, hope you like it. Take care and I'll see you soon.

Looking lovely

Hope you are having a good weekend.  We are in full wedding preparation mode; counting down to Wednesday.  Hopefully the weather will be kind.

My card today is a quick make in amongst all the wedding and birthday cards we need this month.

The image is from a Lili of the Valley art pad with added Frantage.  I love the effect of this stuff but it is quite messy and blows everywhere if you aren't careful with the heat gun!

I used papers from a paper pack called Lily Rose.  I love the soft muted tones but paired it with some richer versions in the flags.

The flags are Die-namics stitched flag dies and I have waited weeks for them to arrive from America.  Now they are here I will probably use them a lot.

The flowers are placed on a few leaves cut with a rolled flower die.  I liked the shape of the petals as leaves.

Well that's all for today.  Enjoy what is left of your weekend.
