Kraft Flowers and Turquoise Spots

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good start to your week. I have my grandsons over to stay this week, but unfortunately I'm at work for a few days, but they are being very well looked after by Jude and my daughter while they are here and I do get to spend the evenings with them. :O))

Today's card was again using bits and pieces of die cuts that I already had and making a card with them. The background turquoise card and the turquoise spot card are both cut with Avery Elle, Wonky Stitched Ellements.

The Kraft layer in between is cut using an MFT Stamps Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle and the grass is from MFT Stamps Grassy Edges.

The flowers are a Spellbinders Die D-Lite, and the butterfly is from an old magazine freebie.

I love how you can combine stamps and dies from different companies and make them work together, just by using coordinating or contrasting colours and patterns.

The sentiment is from the WPlus9 Wishing You set and is cut out with an MFT Stamps Stitched Banner die. Then I just added a few enamel accents and tiny pearls to finish it off.

Anniversary blooms

Happy Monday folks!  Sorry I'm late this morning, my hand is slowing me down a bit and I haven't made any cards for over a week!!

This is one I made before my operation and uses the Altenew  Peony Bouquet set and their blush dye ink.

The blush ink is in a set of pink shades but here looks more peach coloured.  I paired it with some apricot card stock and a simple sentiment from Clearly Besotted.  This is stamped in the same blush ink.

These colours just shouted wedding or anniversary so that's what I went with.

I added a few clear drops and called it finished.  What do you think?

Happy Birthday Nephew

Good morning, hope you have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend. I'm hoping for some craft time to play with the new goodies we have bought recently ;o))

Today's card is one I made for my nephew back in June. I just hadn't got around to blogging it. It's very simple albeit a bit fiddly.

The papers and die used to make the boats are all from a Simon Says Stamp Kit from 2015. It's another one that I hadn't used before so thought it was about time.

I chose two of the double sided papers and cut the boat out 4 times, then arranged the pieces on to a piece of white card. 

I made up the sentiments by using stamps from a Crafters Companion Sentimentals set and a Simon Says Stamp set. I stamped them with black pigment ink and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

I cut the panel to fit an A6 card blank and then used one of the papers to layer behind it.

Cuddly cat

I scheduled this post before my operation so hopefully that went well and this will post properly!

For my birthday Jen and the family bought me some stamps and dies I have been wanting for a while - Cuddly Critters from Simon Says Stamp.  I finally got round to stamping and colouring some of these adorable little chubby animals.

I decided to make this cute cat the focus of my card and kept the rest very simple.  I used my Gansai Tambi watercolours to create the background and mounted it on a lilac card base.

The balloons are a cut with a Paper Smooches die and stamped with mini messages from Mama Elephant.  I then added glossy accents to them.  I was a bit heavy handed with this and they took ages to dry!  (Note to self: be a bit more sparing with the glossy accents lol!)

They did turn out quite well though.  I used some twine to create strings for the cat to hold.  I then sliced around his paw and stuck the tails underneath, so he can hold them tightly.

Sweet treats

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week. Jude's op all went fine yesterday, and she is now home and recovering. 

Today's card was made using an older stamp set from Clearly Besotted. The set came free in a craft magazine some time ago but I've never used the sweets from it, so I decided to give them a go.

I inked the background using Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Hickory Smoke, then I stamped and cut out the jar and then made a few masks for the sweets from sticky notes and inked them with different colour Dew Drop inks.

Then I added glossy accents all over the jar and left that to dry so that it looks like glass. Then I sent about stamping and masking the sweets falling from the jar. It did take some time as I had to do a lot of masking and changing colours etc. but I do think it's worth the effort.

I used a sentiment that came with the stamp set and stamped it with Versamark Ink. Then I heat embossed it with Ranger Fine Detail Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.

I added the panel to an A6 card blank and then raised the glass jar with foam tape, a few clear dew drops finished it off.

Christmas trees

Good morning all.  It has been a while since I've shared any cards with you (thanks to Jen for covering our holiday!) and after this week it will be a while longer.  I'm off to hospital today for a minor op on my right hand so will be out of action for a few weeks.  Hopefully some light crafting will be possible but definitely no work :)

Today's card was inspired by a beautiful soft background I saw on Pinterest recently.  Jen and I decided to have a play at recreating the effect and there are some stunning combos coming over the next few weeks.

This one uses a leaf detail stamp that looks very like a feather!  It is from the Altenew Peony Bouquet set and is stamped with crimson dye ink, also from Altenew.

I added berries in a lime green from the Kelly Purkey Fashion collection for Hero Arts.  This combination then made me think of Christmas!  I decided to use the same ink to stamp a couple of trees from a Simon Says Stamp set along with the matching sentiment.  I didn't like the green alone so shadow stamped it in the crimson.

I also used the crimson ink to colour some scrap card and the edges of my card blank.  This helped me tie everything together.

I like how this turned out and will use something similar for some of my other Christmas cards.  It's only just over 20 weeks away ;)

Tickled pink it's your birthday

Good morning all, and welcome to August. Can you believe it's August already, where is this year going ???I know time speeds up as you get older lol, but really ;o))

We are back into work mode today after a lovely couple of weeks off. Well when I say we, I mean Alan and I. Some of us (Jude) are off for the whole of August! as she's having a bit of an op tomorrow and then will be acting like a dying duck for the next few weeks while we all wait on her hand and foot ;o)) ;o)) Haha, no she's having the first of her Carpal Tunnel surgeries tomorrow so will be out of action for a while. So you may get more of me this month than usual. 

Anyway, enough rambling, today's card was made while I was trying to use up bits and pieces on my desk. The Flamingo's are cut from Heidi Swapp Foil Card which I ran through the minc with Rose Gold Foil. I cut one of them back to front so I could have a pair facing each other. I think this works fine with die-cuts.

The white background is made with a Sue Wilson Entwined Hearts embossing folder and the raspberry card behind was die-cut with the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches dies.

The grass is from the MFT Stamps Grassy Edges die and I wrote the sentiment on the PC and then ran it through the Minc with Hot Pink HS Foil.

Then I just added a few clear dewdrops to finish it off.
