Gilded trees

Hello.  I'm back today with the last of Alan's birthday cards.

This one has been about three years in the making!

I went through a phase of using flitter glue and gilding flakes to create backgrounds.  This piece is one I had buried deep in my stash!

I used a stamp from IndigoBlu, who also make the flitter glue that was used to stamp the image.

I then applied the gilding flakes to the sticky image.  These ones are variegated green from Clarity Stamps.

I stamped directly on to some bronze card and used another piece to create the sentiment strip.  This sentiment is from Altenew's Family Matters and is embossed in silver.

I then added the panel to a base made with Neena Desert Storm card.

This was quick to put together even if it took three years to get all the pieces on to a card, lol!

Sketched Blooms

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week. Today's card is a 'because I wanted to make it' card ! I know, I actually had a flash of mojo back at the weekend. Unfortunately it seems to be escaping again lol.

Anyway, when the Clearly Besotted shop re-opened last month I had to have a little look, and although they have sooooo many sets that I want, I was very good and only bought one new set and a couple of older ones.  This one is called Sketched Blooms and it is one of the older sets.

I stamped the flowers three times using different shades of pink Altenew Crisp Dye inks, from the Rose Petal set.

Then I stamped the leaves using greens from the Tropical Forest set, and cut them both out with their matching dies.

For the background I used a text stencil from Peerless Designs, and brushed Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink through it very lightly with a Clarity Stamping Brush.

Then I cut 2 thin strips of silver card and stuck them to the panel and arranged my flowers and leaves on top using foam pads for dimension.

I finished the card off with a sentiment from the same set, a few clear dew drops and then put it all on a pink card blank.

Hanging around

Hello friends.  I've tried something different with my card today.

This is a Digi stamp boutique image featuring Murphy the dog.  He's a sweet little character and I wanted to try doing a proper background for him.

So using stamps, inks and copics I created this.  Isn't he a sweetie?

The flowers are a Clarity stamp I've had for ages and rarely use.  It came in very useful here.

I coloured the background using 3 shades of blue distress ink to create the cloud effect.

Picture frame

Hello and welcome to the last day of July!  Where does time go?

I have another makeover piece to share today.

Kay and Ian's house had a lot of purple accessories  They particularly liked two picture frames they had snaps from their wedding in.  Unfortunately the colour scheme just will not match their new house so again I tried a makeover.

This is how the frames started. 

I took one frame apart and found that the purple was actually painted on the underside of the glass.  I used sandpaper and had a go at removing it.  It worked but was taking a long time.

Next I tried a sharp blade.  This worked much quicker but left faint scratches.  I knew I could cover these but I wasn't too happy at having to.  I then accidentally stumbled on the easiest method of all.

I took some nail polish remover on a cotton wool pad to clean the glass.  It took the paint straight off!!  With this simpler method I stripped all the paint in no time.

As a neutral or green colour scheme had been requested I dug through my stash until I found the perfect blend.  I framed the picture with olive green and cream card, then covered the edge with gold glitter ribbon. 

I while ago Jen and I bought loads of gilding flakes and I thought this would be a good project for them.  I cleaned the glass thoroughly then laid double sided tape along the edges.  I covered with gilding flakes from Clarity Stamps.  This blend is Variegated Green.  Believe me the picture does not do justice to the beautiful colours in this.

I poured the flakes on to the tape and rubbed them down with my fingers.  Once I had the tape covered I used a  scootchy to remove any loose flakes and polish them up.  The end result was lovely.

This is what the frame looked like when I put it all back together again.  Beautiful!!

Gilded Christmas

Good morning all, Jen back again today. I'm giving Jude the day off as she's a bit under the weather - bless. So I thought I would share another Christmas card that I made this week.

 

 

I started by gilding a piece of double sided adhesive with the Pirate Treasure Gilding Flakes by Clarity Stamps, backed on to some heavy weight paper.

 

 

Then I used the Diesire Sign die to cut the Vintage Sign shape, and cut a straight piece for the base, I also used some little punches to cut the small snowflakes etc.

 

 

I then arranged these on to a piece of hammered card that I had embossed with the small Snowflake embossing folder.

 

 

I used my picket fence die for the bottom of the card and the off-cut for across the top.

 

 

I finished it off by adding a stamped Merry Christmas sentiment to the sign and some small glitter stickers to some of the snowflakes.
