Happy Birthday Chris

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week. Today's card is one I made for our son Chris. He is 26 next Monday, but doesn't read the blog so I'm OK to post this today. But happy birthday for Monday Chris, hope you have a great day xx

I used a mixture of Papermania and Lili of the Valley papers and cut the edge with a scalloped square die. 

Then I used a star stencil and inked it with white pigment ink, then heat embossed them with Seafoam White embossing powder.

I used a Hero Arts script stamp and Vintage photo ink to stamp the papers, and then edged everything with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink. 

I used a couple of Kraft stars that were in the stash and then cut the white star to layer behind. 

Then I tied twine around it before gluing it down. 

The shooting star was also from the stash and I found a sentiment to match and stamped this in Rich Cocoa Memento ink.

Then I added another sentiment to the inside and Son to the shooting star.

Old Bean

Me again and this time I have a card for my nephew Chris, who will be 26 on Monday.

Jen has had these letter stamps for a while and they always remind me of scrabble tiles.  That got me thinking and I decided to use them to spell out a greeting.

I used sepia Archival and red Versafine inks to stamp out the sentiment.  Luckily we have a 3/4 inch square punch that fits the letters leaving a small border.  I'm considering buying a 1/2 inch punch to just get the stamped area.

The paper is from the Suits You Sir pad and was the inspiration for the saying.  We also have a moustache stamp which I cut out free hand.

I really like this idea and may use it again - a lot!

Footie boy

Morning all, Jude again with the last of Chris's birthday cards from last weekend.  

This one uses another of the Lili of the Valley Art Pads.

I saw a technique where an image was cut with a circular die but part of it hung outside the shape.  Having scoured Pinterest I found a tutorial to follow and it turned out quite well.  (Ignore the pencil marks! I did rub them out before it was sent lol)

Once I had the image cut it was a case of matting and layering with papers from a set Jen has had for years.  It is a K & Company pad of speciality papers and I loved these colours together.

Birthday pennants

I have a line that keeps repeating every 7 days lol - "I don't like, I don't like, I don't like Mondays".  Bob Geldof had the right sentiment if not for the right reason!  

Monday means back to work and 5 days of travelling to work on the bus.  I REALLY don't like buses. However there is good cause for torturing myself like this - my daughter's wedding is in September and I'm trying to save some money to help them pay for the big day.  I just try to think of how bad I would feel if I were to let them down, and that keeps me motivated.  I didn't say I had to like it lol ;)

Anyway back to Chris's birthday cards.  This is the one I have sent to him.  It's a very clean and simple layout using one stamp, four scrap papers, a button and distress ink.

I cut four pennants using offcuts from my scrap box and inked the edges of each, before layering them on a 6 x 6 kraft blank.

The star was an after thought as the button needed something else.  I tried a few shapes behind before settling on the small star.  I think it works well, what do you think?

Our favourite Happy Birthday stamp was used again, straight on to the card with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Computer kid

Good morning everyone. Hope you are having a good weekend. Today sees one of my step sons, Chris, turn 25. So happy birthday Chris hope you have a brilliant day. 

Today's card is made using a Lili of the Valley art pad image. I made it for my daughter and grand kids to send to Chris. 

I cut out the image with spellbinders deckled rectangles and layered it on to some Bo Bunny papers, (which I pinched from Jude's scrap box lol ;o)). 

I stamped the happy birthday stamp with clear watermark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. 

I finished with a simple banner with a twine bow and then stuck the number 25 to it.
