Hello and welcome.

I'm here today with one of the simplest types of card make. This is just card and paper!

I love the papers that are part of Simon Says Stamp Hello Darling card kit for April 2019.

These papers often have a sheet or two of sentiment strips or toppers that can make simple cards.

I took one sheet that had four little toppers on and cut out this pale green one.  I backed it with black for some definition, then searched my stash for a card stock of the same colour.

I found one very similar which shared tone with the matching patterned paper.  I cut a strip of this, slightly narrower than the topper, and layered it on the green card.

The topper was added with sticky foam, and the whole panel adhered to a black card base.  For final detail I added some bubble-gum Nuvo crystal drops.

This type of card takes very little time as the papers do all the work for you.

Leafy greetings

Hello friends! Hope you are having a good week.

Today's card was designed around the lovely background paper.  I found this in our Simon Says Stamp card kit stash and wanted to use it, but I didn't want to cover it up too much.

I had seen a technique where a sentiment had been added on to a flower trail to make it look continuous, and decided to try it with a more simple leaf.

I stamped the leaf close to the script sentiment and closed the loop with a fine tip pen.  I then fussy cut the sentiment and leaf to keep it small.

Once laid over the paper I realised the sentiment disappeared, so I added a couple of matching matts to lift it away from the paper.  A very simple but effective solution!

It’s Christmas dear

I'm ready for my weekend, what about you?

Today's card continues the theme of using papers from my stash.  I love the combination of black, white and gold in this paper I thought it deserved something simple and understated.

Unfortunately after gluing the sentiment strip on the top of the paper I realised I had managed to get black soot distress ink on both the paper and card blank!

My first instinct was just to throw the card away and start again, but then I remembered a card Jen made recently where she added washi tape.

We happen to have some gold sparkle washi and I think this adds the perfect touch to the card.  We really need to get some more of this!

Baubles and borders

Happy Wednesday!

I'm back with another card idea using patterned paper.

This time I cut a 6 x 6 paper in half and added thin coloured strips to each side.

I mounted the strip on a 5.5 x 4.25" card blank before adding a sentiment.  The sentiment is from Krumspring's Naughty or Nice set from last year.  I popped this up on foam tape for dimension.

The finishing touch was some gold drops using Liquid Pearls.

I think this makes a simple statement and could be used with many of the papers in our stashes.

Christmas paper piles

Hello again.

While I was making Christmas cards last week I spotted the large pile of papers we have accumulated  over the years, and thought "I really need to use some of them".  So this week I have challenged myself to use some papers in every card.

For the first one I found this fabulous word paper with lots of different fonts.  I did consider cutting it up and using each individual sentiment, but decided against that idea!

Instead I chose to cut the paper down to approx 2" tall and use it across the base of a card blank.  I then added a strip of red card to finish the edge.

At this stage I wasn't sure how to finish my card off.  In my stash I have lots of images from last Christmas cut and coloured.  I searched through until I found items I thought might be suitable.  In the end I just used the Father Christmas and the bauble.

The reindeer is a new die Jen bought recently.  I cut it three times and layered it for dimension.

You're 2 Cute

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a good week.

Today's card is one I made for Jude's granddaughters 2nd birthday yesterday. I used a background paper for a change, this one was a magazine freebie a couple of years ago, but I love the colours and thought the bunting design was cute for a little girl.

For the main image, I cut a scalloped rectangle die from Tonic Studios, and then used a number from a Fancy Pants die cut set, and some cardboard adhesive letters for the sentiment. 

I coloured the letters with Copic Markers to match the background paper and then cut a couple of WPlus9 Balloons from the Whole Lotta Happy set. I did one in a spotty card and the other in plain white card, which I then coloured yellow.

The little pink spotty star balloon is from the Clearly Besotted Laugh Out Loud set, and I gave them all a red twine string for a pop of colour.

Christening dress

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week and a good start to October.

Today's card is one I made for Jude's youngest Granddaughter Charlotte for her Christening last month. I wanted a card with a Christening dress on, but didn't have a die or stamp so I made one myself.

I used a paper doily for the skirt and folded it until I had the shape I wanted. Then I used a small rectangular piece of white card and used a circle punch to chop out the neck hole and to make the underarm section.

Then I tidied it up with scissors and a corner rounder for the arms. I put it all together with a small pink bow and then decorated it with tiny pearls.

I then used a pearl trim on the bottom of the skirt, around the neck and down the side of the card, after putting it on a pink paper background.

As we don't have stamps for Christenings or Baptism's, I wrote the sentiment on the PC and then printed it onto Safmat. (A clear sticky film which you can print on).
