Frosty friends

Morning all. Hope you're keeping well.

I've yet another Christmas card to share with you today. 

This image was printed from one of our Christmas CDs last year. Unfortunately it's so long ago I can't remember which one lol.  Then again I have difficulty remembering what I had for breakfast some days ;)

The photo paper used to print the topper gives it a nice finish.

I matted this with blue card and layered them over a bright Christmas paper. 

All that was needed was a snowflake brad, a blue ribbon bow and a sentiment to finish off my card.

More male cards

Good morning folks, hope all is well in your little part of the world ;o)) All is good here, we had a nice family meal last night to celebrate my son-in-law's birthday.

 

Today's cards are some of the ones I made for the family to send to him.

 

They are quite simple, but made using different methods.

 

A very straightforward ready made topper and sentiment.

 

 

Then a photo in a ready made frame card.

 

 

Some more toppers but this time on hand made paper.

 

 

and finally, my little owls that I printed and cut using my Silhouette Cameo, and added on to a cork background.

Altered Frames

Good morning all, hope you had a great weekend. We really enjoyed a family barbecue on Saturday and then out for a little tapas yesterday :o)) Now that's what I think a weekend should be about! not housework and gardening etc. lol

 

Anyway today's post is to show some photo frames that I have been having a go at altering. They were nice enough frames, but I've had them for years and they didn't match anywhere in the house now.

So I decided to have a go with some paint and papers and thought, nothing lost if they turn out awful lol. But I'm happy to say I quite like them :o))

 

I started by giving them a couple of coats of white Gesso, when that was dry I gave them both a good coat of acrylic paint. This one is a teal colour. The next day I gave them another coat and then once this was dry I gave them a sand over with a sanding block just to smooth them out and give them a bit of an aged look.

 

Next I added a layer of brush on crackle glaze. I hadn't used this one before but it worked great and was dry in a couple of hours.

 

Next I went mad with silver gilding wax lol. I thought about just putting a bit on here and there but once I got going I really liked the effect where the wax and crackle were together.

 

To finish the frames I made up some roses with the Tattered Floral's Sizzix die. I gave them a good spray with a silver sparkle spray and when this was dry I sprayed them with Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Mist in Patina. I like how the Mist sits on top of the sparkle spray and looks more like droplets. A few gems and a little scroll finished them off nicely.

Tag kit completed :o))

Good morning all, yes I have finished my Tag Kit that I got from Hope and Chances. Just as well too seen as how it's for my daughter's birthday tomorrow lol.

 

 

I decided to put the kit together with a couple of pictures of my granddaughters in, so that they can give it to their mum for her birthday.

 

 

The only things I have added extra to the kit are a few flowers and gems, a little bird, and the inking and stamping.

 

 

Then of course their gorgeous pictures :o))

 

 

Cheeky little monkeys lol.

 

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out and I think things like this make lovely little gifts.

Anniversary Cards

Good morning all, and happy Wednesday! I think it's always a nice feeling when you get half way through the week (especially if you work Monday through Friday) when you know the weekend is not too far away. Especially when the weather is like this, lovely and sunny and warm :o) long may it last.

 

I thought I would share with you some anniversary cards that I made recently. This first one was for some friends of Mum's who celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last week! Now that's what I call commitment lol.

 

 

 

Through some sneaky work, another friend of Mum's managed to get hold of a couple of Elaine and Barry's original wedding photos. So I scanned them into the PC and used some print outs for the card.

 

The backing paper is a download from Craftsuprint. I loved the look of it (very classy) so I printed it on to good quality glossy photo paper and popped it on to an A5 gold speckle card blank.

 

I framed the photo with gold mirror card using the Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle set. I then used an off cut from this to mount the sentiment on.

 

A nice gold ribbon and some flat backed pearls were all it needed to finish the front off. But seen as how I had another photo still to use I thought I would pop it inside.

 

 

I really liked the card when it was finished and I know Elaine and Barry did too.

 

This second card is the one I made for my Hubby last month for our anniversary. A really simple card but cute, just how I like them lol.

 

 

The image and papers are from the Wellington range by Docrafts, and the die cut shapes are made using Spellbinders Opulent Ovals dies.

Anniversaries

 

Happy Sunday!  I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are.

 

For Jen and her husband Alan that is the tropical climes of......... Manchester!  As she said yesterday they have gone away for the weekend to celebrate their 12th Wedding Anniversary.  Hopefully they have had a wonderful time and enjoyed getting away from 'normal' life for a bit.

 

I thought I'd share a picture taken at the Wedding.  I keep it on my desk alongside a picture of us aged about 2 and 4.

 

 

Jen will hate me for this - lol!

 

I made loads of cards for the anniversary so that the family all had plenty of choice, but like a numpty I forgot to photograph them!  These are two that weren't sent so I thought I'd share them with you.  Again these are simple Hunkydory toppers.

 

Today is an anniversary of a different sort and not really one for celebration.  Eighteen years ago today my baby boy was rushed to Sheffield Children's Hospital with what turned out to be Meningococcal Septicaemia.  It was a very scary time for us all as the survival rates for this strain are quite low.  We were lucky that the doctors and nurses at the hospital recognised his symptoms and could treat him appropriately.  Thankfully he survived but it came at a cost.  Since then we have had countless admissions for surgeries and illnesses all related to the original condition but we are now moving on to adult services and having to say goodbye to the fabulous staff and volunteers we have met along the way.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in getting Joe to adulthood, something we thought we may never see.  My gratitude for the care and consideration we have had can not be quantified and I can certainly never repay it.  However today I will think of each of those who have played a part and offer a prayer to them for their continued strength and commitment to provide the children in their care with the best they can offer.

Those of you with children stop for a minute today and think of those who help keep our children safe and well.  The doctors, nurses, ambulance staff, x-ray techs, physios, anaesthetists, play workers, kitchen staff, porters, and cleaners, to name but a few.  Without them we wouldn't have an NHS and some of us wouldn't have our children.
