A bit of bling

Good morning crafty friends, hope you are all well today. Can you believe this little blog has now been up and running for a whole year? I know I can't believe it lol, I always knew we could waffle, but really a years worth!!! Anyway, we plan to carry on doing it, so please keep coming back to visit us and maybe leave a comment if you have the time.

 

Today's post is all about the bling, and some of the jewellery that I have made recently.

 

I love to make them, even though most of them just end up sitting in a box in the craft room, lol. We do wear some of them though, as do the rest of the ladies in the family too ;o))

 

Purple and feathers, what more could a girl want?

 

I love this one, it is my current favourite, the pic doesn't really pick up how lovely the teal green is lol.

 

This one came about as a friend of mum's gave me the little bows and they were perfect for a pair of earrings.

 

These are a few of the others, there are loads more but I'll save some for another time lol.

Carolling by moonlight

Hello again everyone.  Hope you are warmer than I'm feeling at present.  The cold seems to be seeping into the old bones and I take ages to thaw out.  Oh well only 5 months until Spring lol. 

Today marks two momentous occasions on this little blog - my 150th post and our first Bloggerversary!! Who would have thought it?  I think we've done quite well to blog every single day since day one - it's quite a feat. 

Today I was going to bring you something fitting of the occasion, however we have had a stressful few weeks with a serious family illness and crafting has been low on our priorities. Instead all I managed was another card featuring those Forever Friends bears. We have lots of papers and toppers left over from last year and I am trying to use some of them up.  Unfortunately it is just so tempting to buy some of the lovely new ones, so I will probably have the same issue next year ;)

I took two co-ordinating papers from a Boofle pack and layered them on a 6x6 blank, with a piece of stripy ribbon sandwiched between.  The topper was matted on some green cardstock and added to the right hand side of the blank.

I found a sentiment in a matching colour and a ribbon bow to bring out more of the green in the background. 

 

The buttons were an after thought but the corner needed something so they are what I found out.

Good morning all, hope you are well today. I decided to make a girly card for today to make a change from the Christmas cards. I also thought it was quite apt with the wet blustery weather we've been having lately.

 

 

Well today I have to go and pick my new glasses up! This will be the first time in 4 years that I've needed them again, as I had laser surgery, but the old body is letting me down again lol and something else is going down hill ;o)) Oh well I only need them for distance so nobody cares what I look like in the car anyway (or any other time actually) lol.

 

Anyway today's card is a Saturated Canary stamp, and I think that this is the one that Krista did for Oklahoma. It is, (just checked) it's called Sweet Oklahoma.

 

 

I started with the image and coloured her with Flexmarkers. Then I cut her out by hand.

 

 

I cut a mat from Coredinations card using Spellbinders Opulent Ovals die and then layered this with some papers from the stash.

 

 

I added flowers that came from The Range and a little strip of washi tape down the side. Then I finished the card with a sentiment printed with my Dymo on a white paper tape.

Forever Friends

Hello again. Jude with you on this wet and blustery Monday.  According to the weather forecast we should be thankful for rain as we apparently have snow coming soon!!  I love to see the snow but the country grinds to a halt with just a couple of inches.  We really don't have a handle on how to deal with snow in the UK.  I know some of you have much worse snow than us and still manage to get around on the roads or public transport; we just don't have enough experience I suppose to cope with the excessive fall we've had in the last couple of years.

Still hearing about snowfall means that I'm starting to feel a bit Christmassy.  I've even bought a few presents!  You never know I might actually be ready by the time it arrives, lol.

My cards are practically all going to be seasonal as I have quite a few to make.  Today's offering comes from a Forever Friends paper and embellishment pack.

These are little chipboard toppers layered on 3 papers from the pack using foam pads for dimension.  I took a 6x6 scalloped blank and added a checked paper layer.  I rounded the corners to keep the look of the blank.  The stars is a 3x5.5 piece added at an angle and the button paper is the same size but I rounded the corners again.

The sentiment is from another set but still Forever Friends.  I thought it balanced the card out nicely.

I wanted some kind of sparkle but wasn't happy with any of the bits I added.  I eventually found this elastic string with stars and beads, which I think matches quite nicely.

Another Barkley offering

Good morning all, hope you are having a good weekend. We have been having a bit of a move about in the living room! I won't bore you with the whole saga of the new sofa, but having new furniture meant a bit of a shuffle around so that's what we have been doing this weekend. Although we did manage a little trip to the shops yesterday to make a start on the Christmas shopping!

 

Anyway on to today's card. Here is another simple one from the Barkley collection. Same topper sheet as last time, but this time I have cut it out with the 2inch scalloped circle punch.

 

 

I used a plain pink card for the base and then matted a piece of cream coloured card that I embossed with the Christmas patchwork folder from Embossalicious.

 

 

I then cut a Snowflakes 2012 out of pink glitter paper and used this to mount my image.

 

 

I finished the card with a ready made topper. Hope you like it too.

It's Saturday!! Yeeaaaaahhh!!!!

I had a days leave yesterday and spent it with my granddaughter, Keira.  It was wet and miserable so we didn't get to go to the park as planned, but we did go shoe shopping instead lol.  I bought her some new white trainers and a pair of black boots, and she was thrilled with them.  Trying them on was fun as she insisted on checking she could run and jump in them, so I chased her around the shop for a while :-))  It would have been less tiring going to work, but not nearly as enjoyable.

By the time I got home last night I wasn't feeling much like crafting, so I dug through our stash to find some ready made toppers or embellishments in order to make a quick and easy card.  This is what I came up with.

The paper and chipboard stickers are from Smirk.  I liked how the raised elements added dimension to the pre-printed background.

The sentiment was very pale against the bright background so I coloured the letters with a pink and a purple Stabilo 0.4.

Once I had chosen a couple of embellishments it really was as simple as adding paper and chipboard to a card blank!

I think it turned out quite well.  What do you think?

To you all at Christmas time

Good morning blog friends, hope you are all well today. Are you starting to get in the Christmas mood yet? after all it is the 1st of November!!!!!! I know I know, it's been all Christmas this and that for weeks now, but we do have a lot to make lol.

 

Anyway today's card is really simple.

 

 

A large card topper, which I cut from a larger piece of card, from my Christmas set that I bought from Crafters Companion a few weeks ago.

 

 

This piece was far too pretty to be used as a backing paper, so I thought I would make it in to the main focus of the card, and mat it on to something a little planer.

 

 

All it needed then was a piece of co-ordinating ribbon, which I love by the way lol. And then a simple ready made sentiment to finish it off.
