Beautiful day

Hello and thanks for joining us today.

Continuing my theme for this week, I have another card made using a scrap piece of Hunkydory card stock.  This one has a floral theme which I thought would pair wonderfully with the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Day stamp set.

I stamped a sentiment from the set in magenta Archival ink but I wasn't fond of the finish.  To save the piece I over stamped using black StazOn and this makes the pink look more like a shadow.  I'm still not 100% happy but I can live with the finished piece.

I took a butterfly from the Simon set and coloured it with Copic markers.  I used colours which were similar to those in the background piece.

As all I had was a strip which wasn't large enough for a card front, I added some rose glitter washi tape to the card base and popped the floral piece up on foam.

I think this helps the card look more finished.

Silver Embossing

Good morning all I hope you are having a good week. Not long before the weekend now, and hopefully some crafty time !

Today's card is very simple, but very very pretty, and uses a flower image from the July 2018 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. 

I used soft grey card, and tapped it generously with my anti-static pad, then I stamped the image with Versamark ink, and heat embossed it with Detail Silver Shine Embossing Powder from Cosmic Shimmer.

I cut the panel out with an MFT Stamps Blueprints 13 Stitched Rectangle die, and added it to a black A2 note card.

Then I stamped the Love and Hugs sentiment that came with the set, and the On Your Birthday sentiment, from a recent magazine set, using Jet Black Archival Ink.  I layered them both with black card and then added them to the card.

Dress Up On Your Birthday

Good morning crafty friends, I hope you are having a good week. Today's card is the one I made for my beautiful granddaughter's 10th birthday last week. 

I saw something similar on Pinterest, and adapted the design to suit my supplies. I started by designing the main text and clothes rail on the PC, and then printed it onto my smooth white card. 

I made the dress using a heart punch cut piece of spotty card, and added a rectangle to the bottom, which I shaped slightly to look like leggings. Then I wrapped a piece of chiffon fabric around the middle, and added silver ribbon and a pink bow.

I fashioned a coat hanger from a pink paperclip, and then added a couple of pieces of the pink ribbon to the top of the dress and hooked them over the hanger. Then I added a couple of silver brads to hang the dress and bag on, before mounting the panel on to a pink card base with foam tape.

I used another punch to cut the bag from pink and black card, and then layered them slightly offset so it was more 3D. Then I added another sentiment, using Archival ink, and finished the card with a few pink and clear enamel dots.

Birthday Shaker Balloon

Good morning friends, I hope you are having a good week. I thought I would give you a break from the Christmas cards today, and share a birthday card I made last week.

I used a new stamp set from Tonic Studios called It's Party Time, along with a corresponding shaker die and blister set. This set goes with both the heart and balloon die and blister sets, so of course I had to get both!!! 😉

These sets really do make shaker cards much easier, you just use the die to cut the shape in your card and then pop the blister/shaker element through the shape, fill with sequins or glitter or seed beads and then seal the back with another piece of card.

For this card I used watercolour card and inked around the edges with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks. Then I stamped the bear and balloons using Jet Black and Magenta Hue Archival inks.

I used Zig Clean Colour Markers to watercolour the little bear, and then added silver gel pen to the patterned balloon.

To finish the card I added it to a bright pink card base, added a few extra sequins outside the shaker, and stamped one of the sentiments that comes with the stamp set.

Distress ink backgrounds

Good morning folks, I'm afraid it's more of the Christmas cards from me again today. But as we don't have any family birthdays in October or November, it's a really good time for us to make a head start on them.

Followers of Jennifer McGuire's blog, will no doubt recognise the technique on these cards, as the one Jennifer shared on her blog a couple of weeks ago. I really liked it so though I would give it a go.

I used a silhouette deer stamp from a copy of Creative Stamping magazine, from last year. I inked it with Archival Jet Black ink and then stamped it on to two white panels.

Then I masked off the top and bottom of the panels with Post-It tape and blended some of the new Distress Oxide inks together to create the colourful backgrounds. I used Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserve and Worn Lipstick for the pink one.

Then I used Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Fossilized Amber for the blue/green one. I wasn't happy with how it dulled my black silhouettes, so I coloured them with my Versamark pen and then heat embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder.

I added a Christmas sentiment, with Archival ink and then Versamark over the top and then heat embossed this too.

Then I added a strip of glittery Washi Tape to the bottom of the panels and put them on to coordinating card blanks. To finish them off I added small dots of White Blizzard, Nuvo Glitter Drops to the backgrounds and left them to dry overnight.

Mothers Day Flowers

Good morning all, I hope you had a lovely weekend, and for those of you that are mums, mummies, moms, mothers, mamma's or whatever other name you are known by - I hope you had a very happy mothers day. 

I had a lovely weekend and was very spoilt. On Saturday the 'mummies' in our family were treated to a delicious afternoon tea by my son and daughter-in-law, who arranged it all the way from Cambodia! Then on Sunday, everyone gathered at ours for a delicious Sunday lunch cooked by my husband Alan. 😋 Needless to say a thoroughly enjoyable but not exactly slimming friendly weekend lol. 😉

Anyway, on to the card. As you can see this card is using that gorgeous Fresh Freesia stamp again from Altenew. Apologies that the pics look a little hazy, but can you believe that is sunshine??? I know, in March. I only realised how hazy they were when I uploaded them to the PC !!!!

I stamped the image using Archival ink and then watercoloured with Zig Clean Colour markers. This time trying to replicate the lovely soft purple freesia that has the hint of yellow in the middle, which I think is the colour that mum had in her bridal bouquet.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Freesia set directly on to the card panel. Then I stamped the Mothers Day greeting using the Avery Elle City Celebrations set, and Grape Jelly Memento ink, on to a plain piece of card and cut it out using an MFT Stamps Stitched Banner die.

I used stitched rectangle dies by Crealies, to cut out the white panel, and the purple background and then mounted the front with fun foam to raise it up.

Then I added the whole thing to a mid-green card base and it was all finished.

My kind of Peep

Good morning all, I hope you have had a good week, and are looking forward to a crafty weekend. I reeeeaaally need to get in my craft room this weekend, and get caught up on some projects.

This card was one I made to say bye and thank you to the lovely folks from my old team. I really didn't want to have to take this in as it meant the end of my time there. But I had to do it, so I thought I may as well make it a fun card. 

I'm not great at goodbyes, so I made it more of a thank you card, for all the support and friendship that I received there over the last couple of years. So I used the Simon Says Stamp, My Kind of Peep, stamp and die set.

I stamped them with Jet Black, Paradise Teal and Bright Tangelo Archival inks, and then added bow ties to a few. I cut them all out with the matching dies and then used the Simon Says Stamp, Seeing Stars set, to stamp a background.

I stamped randomly on a white panel that I had trimmed to fit a 7 x 5 card blank. I used the same colours of ink and added the odd touch of yellow, courtesy of an SSS Hybrid ink called Goldenlocks.

I had to include the goodbye somewhere, so on the inside I added a verse from the Sound of Music song, So Long, Farewell. It had to be done as I knew it would start my old team manager off singing lol.

Watercolour Hydrangea

Good morning all and welcome to April. Hopefully this doesn't mean lots more showers as we've had enough of those lately. But then again they do help the pretty spring flowers to grow :o))

Today's card is using a pretty Hydrangea flower from the Stampendous Giant Cling Stamp series.

I stamped the flower with Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with Wow Metallic Brass embossing powder.

I used my mini Distress Inks to watercolour with and used Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord and Shaded Lilac for the flowers and Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover for the leaves.

I cut the panel out with an MFT stitched rectangle die from a Dynamics Blueprint set and layered it on a lilac card blank.

Then I cut an MFT Happy sentiment in the same lilac card and stamped the birthday with Jet Black Archival ink.
