Tartan Love

Good morning all, I hope you have had a great weekend. Today's card is one that I have kept putting off showing, because I really don't like how it turned out. But I thought I needed to show that it doesn't always work lol.

I started with an alcohol ink background, using Adirondack and Ranger inks, and a blending tool, I swept the colours across glossy card to make a tartan effect.

Then having watched a few videos where people had successfully heat embossed over the top of an inked background, I thought I would give it a go.

But as you can see, even though I used my anti static pad, and allowed my background to fully dry over a few days, it still didn't go on cleanly.

But oh well, it won't stop me from trying again, but next time, I will probably use a less intricate stamp, and a finer detail embossing powder lol.

Thanks for stopping by, take care and I'll see you soon.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Friday again.  The weeks are flying by!

Today's card uses stamps from the April My Monthly Hero card kit.

I saw a very similar card to this (can't remember where!) and had to make my own version.
I stamped the chilli image all over a piece of white card using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I covered this with black embossing powder and melted it with my heat gun.  Once it had cooled I coloured the images with Copic markers in red (R27) and green (G99).

I did the same embossing and colouring for the sentiment, then backed it with card coloured with the Copic markers.
The finishing touch was some drops of liquid pearls in ruby red, before adding the card to a green base.

I think this is a fun card and hope you do too.

Happy Birthday Fishes

Good morning all, I'm back again with one of my Crafty Magazine Makes, using the underwater theme from Issue 36 of Die-Cutting Essentials magazine.

I used Adirondack, and Ranger Alcohol Inks to create the watery background, and then cut it out with the fish bowl die from the set.

Then I cut the bowl another twice, once from blue card and then from acetate, so that I could layer them together.

The little fish and other images are included in the set and I just used scraps of card to cut them with.

The Birthday Fishes sentiment is part of the set, and I added an Avery Elle Die-Cut Happy, using their Modern Alpha Die Set.

I hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Silhouette sky

Happy Wednesday folks.  Hope you're having a good week.

Today's card features the May 2018 card kit from Hero Arts.  I love how they have started adding larger dies to these kits and I just had to use this one first when I opened the packet.

I cut a piece of black card with the stitched wonky rectangle die from MFT then placed the silhouette die in the centre.  This cut really well even on the 300gsm card I used!

The sky was created using distress oxide inks directly on to the card base.  I blended Broken China, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans very lightly on to the white card and splashed some shimmer spritz over the top.  I dabbed the excess with paper towel to get the mottled effect.

The butterfly was added after I had assembled the card and I used my MISTI to make sure it stamped a solid black.
The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts kit and is white embossed on another piece of the black card.  I added this on a foam strip.

I can see me using the silhouette designs in this month's kit quite frequently.  Hope you like them as much as I do.

6th Birthday Shaker

Good morning all, I hope you are having a good week. Today's card is one I made for my granddaughter's 6th birthday last week, the idea came from Pinterest again lol.

I used an MFT Blueprints Stitched Rectangle Die to cut a panel to the size of an A2 card blank. Then I used another Blueprints die to cut the inside aperture.

I enlisted Jude's help, and got her cutting lots of sixes for me, using MFT Stamps Starlight Numbers, Creative Dies Numbers, and a Go Kreate number plate, to give me all of the multicoloured sixes for the shaker.

Using foam tape to raise the frame, I added all of my sixes behind acetate on the card front, I stuck a few of them to the card front, so that when it stands up, they don't all fall down.

Then I used an MFT Stitched Banner die, to create the sentiment strip and the small flag in the corner, which I coloured with a pink Copic Marker.

I added the Happy die cut and the number 6, and then found a Birthday sentiment that fitted nicely, from a Simon Says Stamp set.

Hope you like it, take care and I'll see you soon.

Ribbit

Monday again.  Where do the weekends go?
This weekend my uncle had his 71st birthday.  This is the card we sent him.

The frog image came from Papercraft Essentials issue 158, as did the sentiments and die cuts.

I stamped the frog onto green paper and black embossed it, before adding some more colour with Copic markers, YG06 and YG63.
The background was made using alcohol inks.  I cut the splashes from the extra piece left after covering behind the circle cut in a piece of blue textured card.

The sentiments were stamped with Staz-on using the MISTI as I wanted to be certain of a good impression on the textured card. They stamped nicely first time but I'm glad I used the stamping tool just in case.

That's it for today.  I hope you like this fun card.

Otters

Welcome friends.  Can you believe it is June already??
Hope you have fabulous plans for the weekend?  Ours will have sun, swimming and sangria (possibly) lol.

My card today is another made for Jen and Alan.  This time it is the cutest little otters from Lawn Fawn.  This is actually a Christmas set but by swapping out the sentiments it can fit any occasion.

I coloured the couple with Zig markers and cut them with the matching die, plus a heart motif from the set.

The rest of the sentiment is from two different Hero Arts sets, but I think they all work together well.

The backgrounds were made with distress oxides for the sky and alcohol inks for the ocean.  I loved playing with the alcohol inks and think this watery colour way turned out really well.

I cut the waves using an MFT die and added them all to my card base.
Hope you like this fun creation.
