Colour reference file

Morning all.  It was a funny day yesterday where it appeared I was busy all day but nothing got done!  You know the kind of day.  As a consequence last night when Jen said to me "have you blogged?" I had absolutely nothing to share with you.

I disappeared into the craft room to find something but failed miserably lol.  Instead I thought I'd show you a project we have started that will be a great resource for us when finished.  It is a colour swatch book.

We have loads of Promarkers, Flexmarkers and Spectrum Noirs and we wanted a record of what we have and what they look like.

This all came out of a tutorial Jen was following on how to shade skin.  The creator of the video had one of these reference files and we thought it was a really good idea so adapted it to use what we had available.

The base is a blank cardboard scrapbook and Jen created an A5 page of boxes for us to colour and name.

We have started with the Promarkers but will move on to the others soon.  Each page is actually too large for the book but we intend to fold the pages to fit.
I'm sure this will come in very useful as we try to learn how to colour our images better.  We'd love to know if any of you have a colour reference file also.

Tri-fold/Accordian card

Good morning friends. Today I would like to share with you a very special little card I made for a very special little girl.

As you know, Jude's granddaughter, Keira, was 2 yesterday, and so I tried to make her a card that was a little different.

I had seen the accordion cards in magazines so decided to give this a go. I started with 3 plain flower shapes that we happened to have in the stash. I taped them together with small pieces of card just at the edges to form the basis for the card.

Next I cut some paper circles using the Spellbinders Grand Stately Circles die. This is the smallest of the three. I used these to cover each front and back of the card blanks.

I added doilies and some co-ordinating papers cut in flower shapes and inked all of the edges with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

The images are a Saturated Canary image and a Sherry Baldi 'My Besties' image. I do love both of these designers, I think the faces of the digi stamps are great.

I coloured them with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens and cut them out by hand.

I added the images to the front and back fold and then decorated the rest of the card with flowers, bunting and a bow. I used a little heart to stamp a sentiment on and stamped it in Seedless Preserve Distress Ink.

I have since added a verse to the back of the card but didn't photograph that!.

Anyway I shall leave you there. Thanks for stopping by again.

See you soon, take care

Happy Birthday Kiki G!!

Good morning crafty friends.  Today my gorgeous granddaughter Keira Grace, is celebrating her 2nd birthday.
Here she is having a pyjama party with Mummy last weekend!

I managed to get her doll's house primed and undercoated over the weekend so she may get to play with it later in the week.  Don't worry though as she has lots of other gifts to open :)

This is another of the cards I have made for her.

It is the new Tilly Daydream set from Docrafts which I think is really sweet.  This is a close up of the decoupage.
I added a pink number to the left, then some pearls, a ribbon  and a sentiment finish it off.
I can see more of this range joining the stash.

This, that and the other

Good morning crafty friends. I do hope you are enjoying the weekend. I have a few bits and pieces to share with you today, hence the title. lol.

I have been doing my fair share of crafting but as it is a special little lady's 2nd birthday tomorrow (Jude's granddaughter/my great niece) I can't share any of it yet ;-/

So I thought I would show you a couple of the bits that I am working on and some jewellery that I have made this week.

Firstly, while we were at the Craft Festival last weekend, we picked up a couple of bits that we haven't tried before. One of these is a flower loom. I had never even heard of it but Jude assured me that she had seen the result of some and that they looked really nice. So anyway, we splurged a whole £1 (lol) on a really cheap little plastic one, and I gave it a whirl on Friday.

I have to say for a first attempt, I'm pretty pleased with this little flower.

I know it could do with some tidying up, but I have only watched two videos on YouTube, so I'm pretty impressed lol. So I will definitely be trying again.

The jewellery has been made using some of the new beads that I also picked up last week.

This bracelet is a really heavy piece, those silver ball beads really do have some weight to them. Hence none on the earrings!

and finally, my daughter cam home from holiday the other day all raring to go and re-decorate their bedroom! So off they went shopping for bits and pieces and the result is the bedroom is going from red, white and blue, to teal, white and silver!!!

So on Friday evening she arrived at mine with these photo frames and said do something with them so that they match the new colours! (I did try to tell her that they were already white so already matched perfectly lol, but she wasn't haven't any of it).

So they are now adorning the work bench along with some Teal and Silver supplies ready to try and bling them up a bit, wish me luck.

Right that's more than enough from me today. Enjoy the rest of your weekends.

See you soon, take care

Doll's House update

Happy Saturday folks!  Today is the first day of my 2 weeks annual leave and I'm so looking forward to it; although by the time I go back it will be September ! The year is flying by.

You may remember a few months ago I posted pictures of the doll's house I bought for my granddaughter.

The intention was to paint the exterior and style all the rooms.  Monday is Keira's 2nd birthday so today it is time for the big reveal.

The house now looks like this...............

You spotted the difference didn't you?  No??

Ok I'll tell you - THERE ISN'T ANY!!!!  Yes, I haven't done any of the things I wanted to do with it.  No paint, curtains, wallpaper...........nothing!

I moved the house with me to Jen and Alan's and it has sat undisturbed ever since.  Well apart from being moved out of the living room and into the study after Jen got fed up of it gathering dust and getting in the way lol.

I have had the best of intentions and always intended for it to be ready to play with in time for her birthday.  She can play with it but it doesn't look very pretty, does it?

I may be doing lots of painting and sanding this weekend so wish me luck.

For a dear friend

Good morning all, hope you are having a good week and looking forward to the weekend. I have now finished work for 11 days, yay!!! I know it's not that long ago that I was off, but it has been a tough few weeks to get through lol.

Anyway today's card is for a very dear friend of Mum's. She asked me if I would make something and she really likes the Hunkydory toppers and papers etc. So this is what I came up with.

I know Jude loves making with these, but I found it so difficult! I know what could be simpler than matching up some ready made toppers with already matched card and papers? Well I managed to make it take forever lol. I don't know why I just faffed for ages lol.

But in the end I was happy with the result.

It is very simple, just a patterned card base with a ready made topper layered on to a doily and then a
sentiment layered on to a piece of silver paper and then matted on to a die cut flower shape.

I added a die cut scroll leaf and some flowers, made up from paper petals and some roses.

To finish the card I added a co-ordinating paper inner and a die cut sentiment.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

See you soon.

Christmas comes early (again)

A few weeks ago Jen shared her first Christmas card, and now it's my turn.

In this month's Quick Cards Made Easy there is a free Some Bunny to Love decoupage set so that was the start of my card.  The background papers were also included and I thought they would look good on a stepper card.
I made up the decoupage with foam pads as we have hundreds and they don't get used much.  I prefer silicone but these are good enough. I then matted it on to an adhesive cork die cut.
The sentiment is matted on one of the papers also in the pack.
I added a bow and a snow flake embellishment.

When it was put together it looked a little bare so I added some red sparkle on the sentiment and across the bottom.
Hope you like it.  TTFN Jude xx
